Welcome back to WELFARE Wednesdays!
I'm not sure about you, but we have been mighty chilly overnight over the past week or so! It made us think of this brain tickling question- let us know what you think!

"Horses often drink less water when temperatures drop, which increases their risk of impaction colic".

Is this true or false?

Last WELFARE Wednesday we asked "Why is spring grass extra high in sugar on a cold morning after"
A) The grass produces large amounts of sugar in its leaves during the sunny day.

B) The cold night stops the plant from growing, so it can't burn off those sugars before morning.

C) All of the above.

ANSWER: C!

Woohoo!! SB's are very near and dear to my heart, so it's such a privilege to be able to collab with HERO on finding them the very best of homes once they are ready for their career outside of racing 🥰 Keep an eye on equipair.net for our HERO listings ❤️

PROUD TO PARTNER WITH EQUIPAIR 🥳

We’re excited to officially welcome EquiPair as a new HERO partner, bringing together two programmes with a shared focus on responsible rehoming and creating successful horse and rider combinations 🫶

EquiPair’s thorough, experience-based approach to matching horses and people aligns strongly with what we aim to achieve through HERO. Their focus on transparency, responsible rehoming and finding the best fit for both horse and rider makes this a partnership we’re very pleased to launch 🦄

Through this partnership, HERO horses will benefit from EquiPair’s detailed listing and matching process, helping prospective owners make informed decisions and giving our horses the best possible opportunity to find homes where they can truly thrive 💫

For us, rehoming has never been about simply finding a home. It’s about finding the right combination — considering the horse, the rider, their experience, goals and what life after racing will look like 👀

We’re looking forward to working alongside the EquiPair team and seeing where this partnership takes our HERO horses 🤝

Happy WELFARE Wednesday!! ❤️

This week looks a little bit different with the Rodney Animal Rescue auction looming (closing on Sunday, so get your bids in!).
Make sure you check out the auction here:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GmHchBdFr/

So why are we doing this auction? Let's talk a bit about horse welfare and the importance of education!

Rodney Animal Rescue believes the best owner for a horse is the one they already have, and preventing emergencies/poor welfare outcomes starts with education. Their Education Fund supports first-time owners, especially those taking on OTTBs, to set both horse and owner up for success.

Here is what the RAR Education Fund offers:

- 1-on-1 Mentorship: Tailored guidance on nutrition, paddock safety, groundwork, and OTTB care.

- Support Network: Access to an exclusive group with equine professionals to answer questions.

- Financial Assistance: Case-by-case help for ulcer scoping/treatment, dental floats, farrier sessions, and feed support.

Every bid on their auction directly helps fund these essential resources, keeping local horses healthy and in knowledgeable homes.

If you want to see learn more about the education fund, click here:https://www.rodneyanimalrescue.org/education-fund/

If you want to donate directly to the cause, please do so here: https://www.rodneyanimalrescue.org/donate/

Isn't Trixie a true gem? 🌟 To unlock the opportunity to connect with this magnificent grey mare, remember to reach for the gold verification level by verifying your phone number, equine facilities/grazing, and securing a glowing reference (all within your verification level hub)!
Who's ready to pair up with Trixie?!
If I were 20 years younger and a few feet shorter, I'd be honored to give her a forever home, and I'm sure you will be too! 💕
