I had a freak accident happen to me & Spartan last week, I was saddled up ready to hop on, ran my stirrups down (safety ones)
Got up on my mounting tyre, he reached around other side as flies bothering him and got his mouth stuck in my stirrup 😩, he ended up on the ground, couldn’t release the stirrup leather as so tight, had to hold his head ( while still on the ground) and get it out of his mouth, he lost a tooth and bit of blood, so lucky he didn’t break his jaw, gave bute, antiflam to where he landed on himself for two days, he has 0 hangups on what has happened, he blows my mind how forgiving he is 🥰 he has totally recovered & back riding, the day before this happened we were riding down main rd 100mt to get to river track and half way on rd a big sheep truck came flying around the corner, was not slowing down so I took off trying to make the corner to get off the road, only just made it and gave poor smarties a fright as it came flying past behind him😩 he jumped forward a few strides, so happy with his reaction, today he kept looking behind him as if a monster was there, not bad but could feel and see, every time he did I turned a circle & bent his body to relax & then carried on, after 10 minutes he was good as gold, man I love this horse!!

4 Peaks Arena is excited to host Sophie Hargreaves for one on one 1 hour sessions from 3rd to 5th July. Sophie is both a horse and rider as a Physiotherapist. She can analyse the rider and horses movement and help improve their performance through exercises and stretches, you might even need a tweak on the physio table.

Smarties is ticking over nicely, first big adventure with a buddy, it rained & as we were crossing the main rd big trucks with water spraying not slowing down and he didn’t care, pretty happy about that, his mind was a bit too focused on really wanting to meet his buddy but he listened, another ✅ off his list

So chuffed about Smartie today, had his first outing, 15 riders, came off the float really chill about life, tied up, he was more interested in his hay than what was happening around him, took him for a walk around on the lead, perfect manners, that’s all I wanted for his first trip, I couldn’t have asked for better 🥰
