Sometimes taking in a rescue bird doesn't work out the way you expect and that's ok.
I try not to have expectations and let the birds that come to me be who they are. I let them show me what they need rather than making them fit what I can give.
Hildie deemed so bold when she first arrived and when she chose the aviary at "home time" instead of her cage I let her stay there.
Over the next few weeks it became clear she wasn't thriving, was often being chased away from food and cowered in a corner every time the other birds were active.
I always have hospital and spare cages available for situations like this and Hildie has settled back into a cage next to the aviary. She still has company but isn't as affected but the suddenly flights of the flock and has her own food. She gets solo flight time too.
You have to be adaptable as these birds can't always be.
