We have been getting alot of interest in how we clean the frames so thought we would share a short clip of the process we do to get your frames cleaned up.
Each frame we put through the washer gets hot water blasted and we keep passing the frames through until we are satisfied the jobs done how many passes depends on how dirty the frames are.

Not long now with weather starting to warm up it's time to start preparing as we head into the next season.
The team here at BeeHavinn recommend to start checking your broad boxes to see if they need replacing or frames cleaned, You have your Varroa strips ready to put in on a warm day. Or arranging to do a hive Va**ng service with Oxalic Acid twice 2 weeks apart for management and prevention of the Varroa mite.

Here at BeeHavinn we like to share awareness on problems we may come across on a daily bases to help you protect your bee's/hives and help give you suggestions on how you can help reducing threats to our bee's and production. One thing we have noticed is there still a big wasp problem when usually at this time there should be a decrease going into winter. If left Un noticed it leaves the danger of a potential destruction of your whole colony. Wasps are the biggest competitors against bee's they cause alot of stress /destruction to our bee's and the environment and cause a great loss to the beekeeping community each year. Attached is a video of a wasp bait trap station where the wasps will collect the bait and take back to the nest which saves you from having to locate the nest to destroy yourself.

I have had this Wasp trap out at the shed for 2or 3 mouths and only got the base a ¼ full in that time and that was the level at 11:00AM this morning Saturday the 4th of July (Winter in New Zealand) when I come back to the yard at 3:00PM this is want I fund.
In Hamilton we have had 1 to -1 deg. frosts for 3 days in a row and the temp was 8deg C at 3:00pm today so beware the wasps are going hard.
Note I have 4 Bate station from Hawkeye around the yard and 4 traps from them as well and I have always fund them very good.
I filled the bate stations a week ago and filled them all from empty today this was the only trap that was being targeted today.

It's such a beautiful day here in the Waikato and the team of BeeHavinn is out there busy washing boxes / frames and melting wax. The wax is used for re coating frames to aim in assisting on a good honeycomb and wax bars for the variety of benefits that the wax can offer . If new to beekeeping there is a part 1 read available about this service that is a understanding of its benefits and it's importance.

Here is a short video of Dean from BeeHavinn busy at work washing some frames.

As seen in the video here at BeeHavinn we have a machine available to help with the washing up of your frames. This machine has a great advantage of benefits, it is designed to help bee keepers save time, water from water blasting and Avoiding those extra costs of replacements of frames if the frame was too hard work to recover and had to be burnt and disposed off.

Frame washing : Part 1 the benefits and the importance of frame washing.

Our bee's here in New Zealand are slowing down for the winter season. There is so many tasks and responsibilities involved sometimes it can be hard to juggle and manage time with wintering down and preparing our bee's with keeping a stong and healthy hive and colony.

It's now time to start cleaning your hives frames, If you are struggling for time to manage with this ? No problem we can help you with this service. It is so important to do this to avoid pesky wax moth/eggs or other pests from getting into your frames. It also allows your bee's more time and less pressure to produce a great quality honey production. 🍯
