Hi guys, just putting on so photos of the pet show at the Nationals we had last weekend (last wheeeek end)

List of our family's fancy dress costumes:

1. me (Gracie - age 7) Dutchie [Dutch] - (in boat) as Abel Tasman Eclipse [Coronet] - (in boat) as Abel Tasman's sailor

2. Rosie (age 6) Instant pudding [English crested white] - Pavlova (with a strawberry in his crest)
Rose Kennedy [Rex] - kiwifruit (when you lift up her tummy it is sliced but her Rex coat was like the prickly hairs on the outside of kiwifruit)

3. Annie (age 4)
Lily-Book [Abby] - Prime Minister of New Zealand (wearing a tie) outside the Beehive (Annie had a matching tie sewn by Mum)

4. Leon (age 2)

We all had fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the photos - some of them are not great because Mum and Dad had their hands full with the little kids.

Hey guys,
Late Happy Easter!

I am writing about the super fun National we had last weekend.

As some of you know I was quite nervous the that my little black- point himi boy (Silent night) wouldn't make it, after running out of my grasp in the paddock. The lucky thing about it was that I was sitting down so when he did it he didn't get any injury from that bit of the adventure LUCKY. The subtle bad thing about this was that were he decided to run for it was quite close to our boundary fence to the neighbours paddock.
Luckily we got him back after a tearful afternoon of sadness:( at five past nine that night when we caught him in the live capture rat trap.

We packed our bags and all our 12 groomed guinea pigs into the people mover and dad had to take the passenger seat out to fit everything in and then he still wondered if we would fit but we DID.

It was so fun to go to Orewa and we had a long and busy day at the show. In the pet show Dutchie won the fancy dress (he was Abel Tasman in a boat discovering NZ which was a funny joke because Abel Tasman was Dutch but the Dutch breed of guinea pigs actually is from England). Then in my black point himi classes I won some really nice ribbons and Silent Night got the Black himi trophy which I love so much! At the show dinner that night I was so super excited to get to go up and get my best of breed certificate. I couldn't believe it when I also got the best junior exhibitor award and went up again to shake the 2 judges' hands. Everyone cheered and I almost tiptoed up because I actually thought it couldn't be for me. It was too amazing!!!!!

When we came back to Hamilton I got to go out to the Warehouse to choose what to spend my voucher on. I really wanted it to be something for Silent Night and all my guinea pigs to love. So I got an igloo, cuddly blankets and a wheat bag comforter toy (actually it is for puppies but I will use it for my guinea pigs!). The lady let me keep the voucher once I used it because it is so special to me.

Thank you to the Auckland Cavy Club for the amazing show you did. It was the funnest night of my life and I can't wait for the next one. (I am still going to love my guinea pigs heaps when the horses arrive. I love ponies too but you can't have one in a carrier next to your bed and cuddle them on your chest when you need it like I did after Silent Night came back).

Hi guys,
I'm here writing about the fab show the club had on Sunday! I loved it : )

I would love to say well done to the two winners of the show so well done to Debbie L. (show B) and Andy (show A) : )) Well done to the reserves to Mum (show B) and Andy (show A) and well done to the winner of the marked that beat me: Amy with her cool Daly:)

I am some thrilled that I at last got a very good prize with Dutchie (he has struggled to get a few stars this whole year and didn't do well last year either but now he is looking good. It is kind of good though because Mum knew I really liked guinea pigs all along because it was my sisters that won stuff at shows with their pets not me) :):)

I am looking forward to next year!

Love from Astro Cavies :) :):)

Hi, just telling you guys how little wee Raindrop is doing - she is doing great :)
She seems to think that I am her mother because she snuggles into my hand and sometimes she gives me a little lick! Lol!
Now that she's a week old I think that she is a good show cavy!
We got Amy to have a look at our babies and she said that she thought Raindrop was looking promising :)

I can't wait till the next show.
Thanks so much for your help Amy!

Hi guys, just telling you that one of my black sows have given birth!!

It was very special because it was a week after Belle Man died:(

Last night in the evening Mum when out to check the stud, and when she got to 'Blurred Lines' Cage she saw a big cavy and a small cavy!! :)
I named the little baby Raindrop because she was born on a rainy 'night'.
But there was a small problem - it was that, when I gave Raindrop a cuddle this morning I saw that she had 4 toes on 1 of her back feet!
:( So Mum clipped it off and it did not bleed!:)

And the other thing is a big well done to Debbie L for her sooo cute babies born around the same time as mine:)
Here is a cute photo of Raindrop and a not so cute one of her back foot!

Hi, we are all having a great time here at Astro Cavies!
In this post I am going to talk about the unkind thing that happened with my himi mother Beth yesterday.
We separated my two boys (Silent Night and Milky Way) from my litter of himis about a week ago, and yesterday Beth chased her girl baby, Moonlight, round and round their cage.
This happened just after we had given a prophylactic dose of ivermectin and clipped Beth's nails because they were getting pokey. I have taken Beth and her baby girl out of their house at other times to clean it then put them back in one at a time. I don't know why she was being so mean yesterday. But she was really chasing her baby and wheeking crossly and after a little while she wouldn't let Moonlight go under the sheltered bit of the house. Poor little Moonlight was wheeking sadly so I got Mum to separate them.
I wonder if this often happens with girl cavies? (The first 3 boy baby cavies we ever bought fought really badly but I thought girls from the same family would be ok). Anyway, I still love them all.

Hi, I'm here writing about the great, great show last weekend.
I had an wonderful time and when I won my second reserve in show it was amazing! It is such a cool trophy and Debbie Martin used to have this one!!

I was very surprised about winning this amazing prize with my Himi who has had some little white hairs on her back feet recently. Now I've taken over Mum's blacks and with her boar 'Out Of The Black' I won the reserve 5-9 Self Black class but nothing else with that cavy. I have some more black U/5s to show next time and maybe a pick of the litter if 'Blurred Lines' my pregnant Black sow gives birth to more than one baby.

Mum got a reserve 5-9 with her white boar 'Stolen Dance.'

My first reserve in show was on the day of my first main show which was with the same Himi as this time, so that proves that Snowdrop ('Namelass') is a great cavy:) (When I won my first trophy Astro Cavies had not joined facebook so that is why there is no post about that).

I was so lucky to get my lovely animals from Lynley and Ally at Uenuku Cavy Stud. And I am lucky Debbie Lawrie told me that Himis would be a nice breed for me to get into. Ever since I got my first cavy 'Dutchie' and before then I liked the look of them and wished that one day I would own one. Now I own three from the Uenuku Cavy Stud and three babies that I bred myself.

Here are some cute photos of this special moment when I got this prize. Andy shook my hand which was funny! All of the people in the Auckland Cavy Club are really kind to me and my family. Thank you!! :)

Hi, as some of you know we have had both of Mum's lovely whites give birth!
The first litter had two babies, a sow and a boar. We named the boar Pluto because he fell out of the nest and into a pile of grass then turned green! Lol.
We named the sow River Of Stars because she looked like a group of stars twinkling on a river. The second litter had 3 babies (2 sows and a boar) and I named them Crater (the boy), Constellation and Stardust.

An up date on my Himis - they are getting big and cuter by the day!
Their pads and ears are beginning to turn grey, and they are not even two weeks old!
I am so happy that every thing is going well here and that the show is so soon and that all means FUN!

Hi, this is the most exciting message that I have ever sent - I went to feed the cavies yesterday evening and what I saw made me shake with happiness...Beth had given birth!!!!!!!
Beth now has three babies - one boar and two sows (we think). I named the boar Milky Way and one of the sows Silent Night and the other Moonlight.
Check out these super cute photos from last night!
