Kia Ora Tatou! Probs a good time to introduce ChewBarkas admin, and staff…
I’m Kelly, admin, show chauffeur, food bringer, the bad cop and Vegemite makes me sneeze.
My husband Blair (the good cop and team manager) introduced me to Bull terriers some 20 years ago. I’d never heard of them, and wondered who the hell designed them when I opened my first bull terrier book😅 - the good old days of dial up interweb haha!
Blair and his OG bully Jake moved in, and the rest is history.
In 2006 we got our first bull terrier together: Vespa Lynd by Catchbull from Frank & Diane Denson 💕 our Eva. The sweetest, gentlest, most laid back dog ever. We were privileged to have 14 wonderful years with Eva, and without getting too wistful she’s still with us everyday🐾
Without our girl under our feet, snoring, snuggling the chickens ran riot! They no longer had to walk around her to get to the window seat in the loung🥴 but our house felt as empty as our hearts.
We were blessed to get our Mavis a mere few months later, the polar opposite of Eva! Named after our beloved Nan, who actually hated being called Mavis😂 then two years to the day after bringing Mavis home we fly back from Auckland with our first mini bull - Boromir Gold Digger from Vortex - Evie🖤 beautifully bred by Heidi Holland & Linda Flegg. THANK YOU LADIES 🙏
There’s loads of backstory to Evie and how we crossed to the dark side of minis!! But let’s just say it takes a village and the bull terrier realm is a pretty special one full of incredibly wonderful people 🥹
We live in the Deep South on a life sentence block with our two sons who were basically raised by bull terriers, and Trooper the cat (he’s the CEO) and no doubt about to raise an HR case coz……..EVIE is expecting a litter🐾🐾🐾
Short of turning this “brief” intro into a full blown Oscar acceptance speech, there are SO many people to thank & I hope you all know how grateful we are for each and every one of you & the chapters you’ve written in our story to date😘
