🐾 Two clinics, One team and a Little Red

12 week old Red arrived at the Dunedin Emergency Vet Clinic critically unwell with a suspected clotting disorder and desperately needed a blood transfusion.

With the support of our friends at the Green Island Veterinary Clinic we came together to give this little fighter the best possible chance.

It was a long and incredibly worrying night. Red reached a critical point where he needed oxygen support and intensive monitoring while we worked to stabilise him. A blood transfusion was an important part of getting those vital levels back up and giving his body the support it needed.

We were absolutely thrilled to receive these update photos from Red’s owner recently- showing a much happier puppy back home with his brother Blue 🥹🐾

These are the updates that make every late night, every anxious moment and every effort completely worth it.

A huge thank you to the team at Green Island Veterinary Clinic for working alongside us, to our incredible team who cared for Red throughout the night and of course to the owners for sharing these beautiful recovery photos with us.

And most importantly… Thank you to the amazing canine blood donors who make stories like this possible. 🩸❤️

This September our team is proud to be getting behind Walk the Talk — Youthline’s 30 day wellbeing challenge supporting youth mental health across Aotearoa.

We’re taking on our own wellbeing challenge as a team by getting active, looking after ourselves and each other but most importantly helping to raise funds for a cause that makes such a difference. 🫶

Growing up can be tough so Youthline’s 24/7 Helpline provides a vital lifeline for young people when they need someone to talk to.

Every dollar raised helps Youthline continue to be there for rangatahi when it matters most. 💚

We're looking for an experienced Locum Veterinarian to join our friendly after-hours emergency team.

Our dedicated after-hours clinic provides emergency and urgent veterinary care when local daytime clinics are closed, helping ensure pets across Dunedin receive the care they need while supporting our partner clinics and their teams.

We have shifts available immediately from August until the end of the year!

As many local veterinary clinics take a well-earned break to observe Matariki, our team will be here to provide emergency and after-hours care for pets who need us.

Matariki Public Holiday Hours
🕕 6:00pm Thursday 9 July
➡️ 9:00am Saturday 11 July

We then continue with our regular weekend after-hours service:

🕔 5:00pm Saturday
➡️ 7:30am Monday

If your pet has an emergency at any time during these hours, please call 03 477 7233.

Do you recognise this little face? He has been bought to us in clinic today- Sunday 17th May.

Small breed male entire dog, not microchipped.
Black with white on chest.

Found South road/Maitland street near cemetery.

OWNER FOUND. Rest easy sweet puss.

We are seeking assistance to identify the owner of a deceased cat brought into our clinic this evening- Friday 15th May.

This much-loved cat was found in the Taieri Road/Gilmore Street in Wakari, and was sadly deceased on arrival.

We understand how distressing it is when a beloved pet goes missing, and we hope to reunite this cat with their family so they can have closure. He will be held in clinic with us until Friday 22nd May.

Description: • Cameo and White, Domestic Medium Hair, Neutered Male, no Microchip. Photo avaliable on request.
