We are currently seeing some cases of Parvovirus in our area.

The best protection is to ensure your dogs safety is making sure they are up to date with vaccinations!

❌Parvovirus❌
We are seeing a rise of Parvovirus cases in Christchurch again. This is affecting our area as well.
It is essential to ensure your dog is protected against this highly contagious and life-threatening disease.
Parvovirus can affect of all dogs no matter their age, puppies under 6 months old are the most common. This does not mean your dog is not at risk.
The virus is shed through faeces (poo) of the infected dogs and can survive in the environment for extended periods long after the infected dog is no longer there.
Symptoms of Parvovirus include:
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Lethargy
- Loss of appetite
Sadly not all dogs survive this awful disease 😢

Please check your dog's vaccination books or give your clinic a call if you need us to check their vaccination status

Avian Influenza 🐦‍⬛

We advise the public to:
Keep your distance. Stay away from sick or dead wildlife. Keep pets away too.

Keep clean. Wash your hands and clean your gear after being outdoors.

Know when to report. If you see three or more sick or dead birds or wildlife, report them to the exotic pest and disease hotline on 0800 80 99 66.

Provide as much information as possible, including:

- a GPS reading or other precise location information

- photographs and videos of sick and dead birds

- how many are sick or freshly dead, and the total number of birds present

🦠There’s been a recent spike in parvovirus cases locally. This highly contagious and potentially deadly virus affects unvaccinated dogs — especially puppies.

What can owners do?

🐾Check your dog’s vaccination status today. Parvovirus can spread quickly through parks, on footpaths and even on shoes or clothing.
If your dog is unwell — showing signs like vomiting, diarrhoea, or lethargy — contact your vet immediately.

💉Prevention is key: Vaccination is the most effective protection against parvovirus.
Puppies should start their vaccine course from 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters every 4 weeks until at least 16 weeks old, followed by regular revaccination as advised by your vet.

We will be open on Saturday 25th of April - ANZAC Day for appointments only.

If your pet requires repeat medication or food, these can be collected between 1pm and 2pm due to ANZAC Day trading restrictions.

We are closed on Monday 27th of April and will resume normal hours on Tuesday 28th of April.
