Happy Father’s Day to all the pet dads out there! 🐾

The ones who get woken up at 5am, share their snacks, throw the ball for the 47th time, and somehow still say “who’s a good boy?” like it’s the first time they’ve heard it.

Whether you’ve got a dog who thinks you’re their entire world, a cat who allows you to live in their house, or a whole crew of furry family members — today is for you.

From all of us at Hornby Veterinary Centre, we hope you get plenty of cuddles, questionable gifts and time with your four-legged family. ❤️

Happy Father’s Day, pet parents!

Winter may be winding down, but it’s still a good time to keep our older pets comfortable — especially those with arthritis or stiff joints. 🐾

A few simple things can make a big difference:

🐕 1. Slowing down isn’t always “just getting older”
If your pet is taking longer to get up, avoiding stairs, struggling with slippery floors or not wanting to go for walks like they used to, it could be a sign of arthritis or another painful condition. Changes in mobility are worth checking with your vet rather than simply putting them down to age.

🛏️ 2. Make their resting spaces soft and supportive
A warm, comfortable bed with good support can help sore joints. Keep beds away from cold draughts and consider adding extra rugs or mats on slippery floors to give your pet better grip.

🩺 3. Get on top of things early
Arthritis is much easier to manage when we catch it early. A veterinary health check can help identify pain and mobility changes before they become more significant, and your vet can discuss options to keep your pet comfortable and active.

And remember — getting older doesn’t have to mean living with pain. There are lots of ways we can help our senior pets stay comfortable and enjoy the things they love.

If you’ve noticed your pet slowing down, book a check with our team at Hornby Veterinary Centre. ❤️
