🌙 PAWS UP… IT’S FRIDAY! 🐾

Baby Bean has officially clocked off for the week. Any further enquiries can be directed to his teddy. 🧸💤

Our little Sleeping Beauty is all tucked up as his foster family settle in for the night. Growing, eating and being ridiculously adorable is exhausting work, apparently! 🥹

He’s had a busy week, he’s putting on weight, and his lovely foster family are trying a recommended feeding technique to help him along. One little Bean step at a time. 🖤

We hope you’ve had a lovely week, WAGS family. May your weekend include a comfy blanket, good company and a sleep as peaceful as this one.

🐾🎉 HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, EMMA! 🎉🐾

A great big WOOFY, tail-wagging happy birthday to our gorgeous WAGS girl complete with sloppy licks, wet noses and absolutely no understanding of personal space! 😂💋

Twenty-one! Oh my gosh.

You’re officially retiring your title as the baby of the WAGS team… although convincing us to stop calling you that might take a little longer! 🤭

Emma, you’ve always been wise beyond your years. You bring that infectious smile, a huge heart and a wonderful way of helping frightened, shut-down dogs feel safe enough to let someone into their world. Watching them learn to trust you is something special. 🩷

You’re a sweetheart who speaks her mind, stands up for what matters and doesn’t suffer fools and we wouldn’t have you any other way!

Our rescues love and appreciate you just as much as we do, girl. Thank you for the patience, kindness and love you give them, and for being such a special part of our team.

Have the most amazing 21st, Em! Here’s to adventures, plenty of laughs and a birthday outfit that stays free of dog hair for at least five minutes. 😂🐕

HE COULDN’T PUT WEIGHT ON EITHER BACK FOOT 💔

Last night, this beautiful boy came into WAGS after being found in Manurewa. He remains unclaimed.

Today, he went straight to the vet.

Even with light sedation, he was in too much pain for them to properly examine and clean his wounds. He needed a general anaesthetic.

Thankfully, X-rays showed no broken bones, and the vet found no ligament damage. The reason he couldn’t bear weight was his paws.

He had chewed away the outer layer of his paw pads on BOTH back feet.

His groin has also been badly damaged by chewing, with areas of hardened skin, and his tummy is raw and sore.

And through all of this, he is the calmest, sweetest, most placid boy. A gentle soul hurting this much is heartbreaking.💔

I’m gutted. And I’m angry.😡

We don’t yet know his full story. But seeing the pain he is in, it’s hard not to ask: how did he get to this point without getting the help he needed?

And if this is your dog, you need to contact us. We need answers about how he came to be in this condition and why he hasn’t received the help he so desperately needed. I’m angry, and I won’t pretend otherwise. This will be a serious conversation, because his suffering cannot be brushed aside. His welfare comes first ❗️

I’ve said it before: it’s not the rescue that breaks me. It’s seeing suffering like this and wondering where help was when they needed it.

He hasn’t completed his stray holding period, but his treatment couldn’t wait. He needed veterinary care today, and we got it for him.

Now we need help covering that care 🙏

We’ve had several substantial vet bills recently, with more surgeries ahead for other dogs. We know we’ve asked a lot lately. We simply don’t have enough to cover this latest bill.

🐾 🎁🎉ONE WEEK UNTIL WAGS TURNS ONE! 🎁🎉🐾

On the 19th of October, WAGS Rescue New Zealand celebrates our very first birthday. 🩵

What a year it’s been. Dogs finding their families, little ones finding their feet, and others slowly learning that they’re safe and loved. There have been hard days, happy tears, mountains of washing and plenty of puppy chaos!

And through it all, there’s been you our fosters, adopters, volunteers, supporters and friends. Every shared post, every donation , helping hand and word of encouragement has helped us keep going 🙏

This week, we’ll be looking back at the dogs, the people and the moments that have made our first year so special.

We’d love you to be part of it. 🥰

💗🐾 WAGS WENT PINK AND WE COULDN’T BE PROUDER! 🐾💗

Today our WAGS team joined the 5KM Pink Ribbon Walk at Auckland Domain, and what a fantastic day it was!

Clover, Chico, Phoebe and Coco came along, with our canine team member Bex joining the crew. 🥰

With big crowds, noise and so much happening around them, our rescues did incredibly well. Seeing them out in the world, taking it all in with our team beside them, made us so proud. These moments mean so much. 🖤

Little baby Coco is still finding her confidence on the lead, so we brought the pushchair along for when she needed a little help. And yes… a puppy cruising along in a pink pushchair brought a whole lot of smiles! 😂💗

A beautiful day supporting those affected by breast cancer, spending time together and watching our dogs shine.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us and stopped to say hello.

🚨TWO VET VISITS TODAY CAN YOU HELP? 🚨

WAGS family, today we had two dogs needing veterinary care, and we’re reaching out for a little help with their bills. 🖤

Our community mama, Raine, had a couple of hard, uncomfortable teats. Thankfully, we got her checked before it could develop into mastitis. She now has pain relief, and her owner has instructions to help the puppies feed from those teats and keep the milk flowing. We’ll keep supporting them as she recovers.

Then it was Wh**ky’s turn for his follow-up with some good news and a little setback 💔

Our boy has gained SIX kilos! 🥹 His coat is coming back, and it’s lovely to see him filling out.

Unfortunately, his skin is still hot and has flared up again despite his medicated washes. His vet has prescribed new medication and additional support to help his recovery. He’s come so far, but he still needs ongoing care.

Today’s bills came to:

🐾 Wh**ky: $312.35
Total: $508.71

🐾🖤 MATERNITY WARD PUPDATE BABY BEAN’S FIRST NIGHT 🖤🐾

Oh, our little Baby Bean. 🥹🫘

Tonight is a pretty special milestone for our tiniest little fighter.

After spending his first few weeks snuggled up with Mumma and his siblings, Baby Bean has officially moved into his foster home! ❤️

And would you just LOOK at him, all tucked up with his teddy bear for his very first night. 🧸🥹

At just 1.1 kilos, our little Bean might be tiny, but he’s certainly packed with personality and a few extra surprises!

As many of you know, Baby Bean has a little bald head and chest, and his left eye is very cloudy. Our vet believes he may be blind in that eye, and there’s still a lot we don’t know about what his future veterinary needs might look like.

But there’s something else that makes our little boy rather unique…

BABY BEAN HAS EXTRA BEANS! 😂🐾

That’s right. Our special little boy has SIX toes on each of his back feet!

As if he wasn’t adorable enough already. 🥹

Over the past week, his siblings have become much more active, and being the smallest in a litter isn’t always easy. He’s picked up a few little scratches amongst all the wriggling, climbing and general puppy chaos.

So the timing couldn’t be better for Bean to have some space of his own.

He’s now in the wonderful care of our foster mum Lisa, who will be giving him all the individual attention, feeding, love and support he needs as he grows.

We’ll be watching his development closely, particularly his eye, his weight and how he’s progressing, and making sure he gets whatever veterinary care he needs along the way.

We have absolutely no idea what surprises this little boy has in store for us, but we cannot wait to watch him grow into those extra beans. 😂❤️

And Lisa, thank you for opening your home and heart to our very special little boy. Foster families like you make it possible for us to give puppies like Bean that little bit extra when they need it most.

For tonight, there’s no big adventure.

Just a tiny 1.1kg puppy, a ridiculously oversized teddy bear, a warm bed and someone looking out for him. 🥹🧸

Sleep tight, Baby Bean. You’ve got a whole lot of growing to do, little man. 🖤🐾
