That is indeed the face of a very happy dog!

One might assume his joy stems from enjoying some peanut butter during his subcutaneous fluid therapy, which undoubtedly contributes. However, the primary reason is that he has just learned that all his efforts to improve his kidney function have been successful. This means they can adjust the frequency of his therapy, with the hope of eventually discontinuing it altogether.

Furthermore, veterinary nurse Lauren has received excellent news from several clients whose pets were experiencing kidney issues, reporting that their kidney function has not only improved but has returned to normal. It is clear that hard work yields positive results, and the bond with their pets has remained strong throughout months of at-home therapy, utilizing cooperative care techniques.

In celebration of International Cat Day, we are pleased to share a positive update.

Leo's eye infection has been successfully treated, and he has been cleared by the veterinarian. This concludes the need for further visits, which vet nurse Lauren will miss and we are sure he'll miss the tastey treats.

Buddy's progress over the past two weeks has been remarkable. Initially, the administration of subcutaneous fluids presented a challenge. However, today, he willingly settled onto his bed and remained calm during the procedure, enjoying his preferred peanut butter treat. This demonstrates a successful application of cooperative care principles. Go Buddy ❀️🐾

So although giving treats is a great way to bond with a pet it is also an important part of Leo's treatment.

He needs eye ointment twice daily and his first move after application is to try and wipe it out. So vet nurse Lauren gives him a churu to allow the ointment to coat the eye and prevent further inflammation from him rubbing it.

Safe to say he doesn't mind this part of the treatment at all 😻

Vet nurse Lauren met Leo the friendly feline today. Unfortunately he has an eye issue that requires twice daily medication. Despite being the best boy his pawrent has some health issues that make medicating him difficult. That is why Lauren is assisting each morning. As you can see Leo approves the wearing of Christmas socks in August but what do you think? πŸ€”

It is important to recognize that numerous products marketed for pets, both online and in retail stores, may not be appropriate for their intended use. This discussion will focus on treats, including bones and hooves, as well as toys such as Nylabones. Nylabones, in particular, may be surprising, as they are marketed for both teething puppies and adult dogs. However, their excessive hardness can lead to accelerated dental wear and the potential for fractures.

Determining the safety of items for canine consumption involves assessing their hardness. A general guideline is that if an item cannot be indented with a fingernail, it may be too hard. Furthermore, meat products that soften during chewing are generally considered acceptable. For a more comprehensive understanding, the subsequent post provides valuable insights for all dog owners.

A key consideration is that marketing a product for pets does not guarantee its safety or suitability. The pet product market currently lacks robust regulation, presenting potential challenges for consumers. To assist in navigating this landscape, we will provide a series of posts designed to facilitate more informed decision-making.

What a pawesome reminder. Did you know on a daily basis vet nurses don't do any of these things. You can't help anyone if you don't help yourself ❀️

πŸ’™ This Self-Care Day, a reminder:
You’re not a bad vet nurse for putting yourself first.

Take your breaks. Set boundaries. Ask for help. You matter too. 🐾

Buddy and his teddy were pawesome this afternoon during his subcutaneous fluid administration. He enjoyed some dog friendly peanut butter throughout with a yummy freeze dried salmon treat before vet nurse Lauren left. πŸ˜»πŸΎπŸ•

We are advocates for putting the treat into treatment 😻 Buddy now hops happily into his bed each day now. 🐾πŸ₯°πŸ₯³

Lauren's massive 51 kg, 9-month-old puppy, Bob, was showing signs of a urine infection. This included urinating in the house and going off his food. After an at-home urine test showed abnormal results, she took him to the vet yesterday. Pictured is an image of his urine under the microscope. What can you see in his urine? πŸ™€

Buddy's condition is currently impacted by several health concerns. To facilitate his return to his owners, daily subcutaneous fluid administration is necessary. Given the potential challenges of this procedure, the Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialists recommended our mobile veterinary nursing services. Since Saturday, Lauren has been providing daily support, and Buddy's progress has been remarkable. Teddy snuggles with him on his comfortable bed during the process 😍
