Last year I ‘talked’ about Xero’s “Know your numbers” programme.

This year, I participated!!

Thanks to this free programme I was matched with my Small Business Mentor, Trudi Ballantyne at Stem Rural Accountants and for the last few months we have been working towards building my confidence in my financial processes and systems. A few life lessons along the way too!

If you’re a small business owner and want some helpful resources and support on the financial side of your business then have a read of the Xero mentoring Case Study in my stories or take a look at the Xero ‘Know your numbers’ site - I’ve popped a link in my bio ☝🏻

There are poppies and then there are COLIBRI POPPIES.

The frills!
The drama!
The scale!

Compared to the Icelandic Poppies these are triffids - long solid stems and enormous buds and heads.

I’m in love! 😍

It has been an unusually foggy and frosty July here on the farmlet.
We don’t often get frosts, but this last month we’ve had more than one! 😳🥴

Thankfully though, we’re starting to see some new signs of life and colour, so there is hope in amongst the nipply patches!!

All of the hardy annuals are planted and tucked away snugly undercover and the earlybird spring flowers like the poppies and daffodils are throwing out some much-needed bright spots of colour. And most exciting of all, the tulips’ leaves are starting to break ground now and are signalling that they’re ready to get cracking - whoooooop!!!

Let’s goooooo AUGUST!!!!

They could be early.
They could be slow.
They could be very tenacious.
Or maybe, they’re just confused?

Gathering an armful of winter waifs and strays around the farmlet made for an unusual mix today - roses, Icelandic Poppies, Linseed and a few Achillea too.

Strange bedfellows together but I’m grateful for the small pop of vibrant colour in amongst all of the overwintering seedlings.
