At Avian Rescue Otago, our specialist avian nurse deals with domestic, native or protected species and a number of non protected species, we have a special focus on raptors, in particular the treatment and rehab of little owls, our facilities allow us to provide intensive nursing care to our patients to give them the best chance at recovery. Apart from our generous sponsors and donors we do not re

ceive any funding, meaning our costs are often covered by our fundraising efforts and our own pockets. Some of these birds will be here for the rest of their lives, these are the ones that for various reasons are classed as being "at risk" for rehoming, these birds are often very expensive to care for.
