ETHICAL BREEDING is the Practice of a TRUE BREEDER. This rests on the prescription of the BREED STANDARD. A True Breeder therefore must be armed with the Breed Standard (he must be able to analyse and digest it to the extent of having a pictorial image of the ideal Boerboel and exactly what it is meant and created to do). It is in this (the Breed Standard) that such traits as Structure, Temperament, Balance and Functionality fall. This KNOWLEDGE forms the bedrock upon which any True Breeder develops his or her BREEDING PROGRAM. This should automatically inform rhe breeder's direction as concerns foundation stock.
Next to this is HEALTH TESTING. Right under this is where the various necessary and important test concerning overall health management of a True Breeder stock fall. Such tests are the ED/HD, Semen analysis, Va**na swabs, progesterone, hearts and others as may be required.
And then we have the NUTRITION. This is a major challenge for most breeders. A True Breeder knows and provides exactly what his or her stock needs (balanced meal) to get his or her stock to optimum form nutritionally, not just what is convenient. Hence, he must have an idea of a workable budget on feeding per time and term.
A True Breeder also ensures that the CONDUSIVE ENVIRONMENT and SPACE required for proper grooming and nurturing is in place for his or her stock.
A TRUE BREEDER takes HYGIENE very seriously and has an effective sanitary routine in place.
Finally, he True Breeder knows his OR her KENNEL CAPACITY and does not go beyond it no matter the temptation.
In summary, ETHICAL BREEDING is the PRACTICE of a True Breeder and it is exactly what he or she preaches. He not only practices it but also preaches it. He therefore must be one who is genuinely interested the success of others and also present himself/herself as a RELIABLE Mentor and Breed Ambassador.
