Mondays can be a lot.

You're trying to get ready for work.
You're already running late.
Your phone won't stop ringing.
Traffic is waiting outside.

In all the rush, don't forget the little one waiting at home. 🐾

Before you step out, take a minute to:

• 🥣 Refill their food and water.
• 🚶 Give them a quick walk or a few minutes of play.
• 🧸 Leave a toy to keep them busy.
• ❤️ Give them a little cuddle or a few kind words.

It might seem like a small thing to you, but to your pet, it means everything.

How do you make sure your pet is comfortable before leaving home on busy mornings? Tell us below. 👇

🐾 Does your pet get the Monday blues too?

The weekend is over.

You're rushing to beat traffic, replying to emails, packing bags, and trying not to be late. Meanwhile, your pet is watching you put on your shoes, wondering why everyone is leaving again.

Sound familiar?

Mondays can be an adjustment for pets too, especially if they spent the weekend enjoying extra cuddles, playtime, and having you around all day.

Here are a few simple things that can make Mondays easier for them:

🐶 Burn off some energy before you leave.
Even 10–15 minutes of play or a short walk can help your pet feel calmer while you're away.

🦴 Don't leave them with nothing to do.
A favourite toy, chew, or puzzle feeder can keep them occupied instead of bored.

💧 Do a quick comfort check.
Before heading out, make sure there's clean water, enough food (if needed), and a cool, comfortable place to rest.

🎵 Leave a little background sound.
Soft music or the TV at a low volume can make the house feel less empty for some pets.

❤️ Keep goodbyes short.
As hard as it is, making a big fuss every time you leave can make separation even more stressful. A calm goodbye is often the better choice.

At the end of the day, your pet doesn't understand meetings, deadlines, or Monday morning traffic. They just know their favourite person walked out the door.

A few small changes can help them feel safer until you're back home.

💬 Tell us in the comments: What's the first thing your pet does when they realize you're leaving for work or school on Monday?

If someone tells you to burn an attached tick with a match stick, suffocate it with Vaseline, or pour kerosene on your dog's skin, please tell them to shift. 📍

These old-school backyard methods backfire completely.

When you panic a tick, it triggers a gross, reflexive barf. The tick will literally vomit its stomach contents and all the nasty bacteria it is carrying straight into your dog’s bloodstream. God forbid.

The real secret to removing a tick is very simple

📍Get Low: Part the fur and pinch the tick right against your dog’s skin. You want to grab it by its mouth, not the bloated body.

📍 Pull Straight Up: Pull straight out with steady pressure. No twisting, no shaking. Rushing can snap the body off and leave the head stuck under the skin to cause serious infection.

📍 Clean Up: Drop the tick into some methylated spirit to kill it, then clean your dog’s bite site with an antiseptic like Dettol or Savlon.

The Two-Week Vibe Check
Once the uninvited guest is gone, you are usually fine. Just monitor your pup for two things over the next 14 days:

🐕The Bite Site: A tiny pimple-like bump is totally normal. If it starts swelling, expanding, or oozing, call your vet.

🐕The Energy: Ticks carry nasty blood parasites. If your usually bouncy dog suddenly turns into a total couch potato, refuses food, or is just looking dull, please run to the clinic immediately.

❗Take note, the easiest way to deal with ticks is to make your dog taste like poison to them. Talk to your vet about anti-tick chewables or spot-on treatments.

It turns your dog into a walking tick shield so you don't have to play tweezer roulette in the first place.

Save yourself the wahala!

Would you know if your pet was in pain today? 🐾

One of the hardest things about being a pet parent is that pets can't tell us when something hurts.

What's even more surprising is that many animals instinctively hide pain. In the wild, showing weakness can make them vulnerable, so they often act "normal" even when they're uncomfortable.

Here are a few signs that could indicate your pet is in pain:

• Sleeping more than usual
• Loss of appetite
• Reluctance to play or move around
• Limping or stiffness
• Excessive licking of a particular area
• Unusual aggression or irritability
• Whining, whimpering, or unusual vocalizations

Not every change in behavior means something is wrong, but sudden or persistent changes should never be ignored.

The better we understand our pets, the better we can care for them.

🐾 Your pet may not be able to speak, but it is always communicating.

Have you ever noticed any of these signs in your pet?

🐔 Would you keep a chicken as a pet?

It might sound unusual, but more people are choosing chickens as companions, and for good reason.

Chickens are a lot more interesting than many people realize.

Here are a few things that might surprise you:

• They can recognize familiar faces and remember people they've interacted with.

• They each have their own unique personalities. Some are bold and curious, while others are calm and reserved.

• They enjoy social interaction and often form strong bonds with both humans and other chickens.

• They can be entertaining to watch as they explore, scratch around, and investigate their surroundings.

• With proper care, some chickens can live for several years, making them a long-term commitment rather than a temporary pet.

Before bringing a chicken home, remember that they need:

• Safe and secure housing.

• Fresh water every day.

• A balanced diet.

• Protection from predators and harsh weather.

• Regular health checks and proper care.

Chickens may not fetch a ball or curl up on your lap, but they can make rewarding companions for the right owner.

So, let's settle this:

🐔 Would you ever keep a chicken as a pet? Why or why not?

As a first-time pet parent, here's one pet I absolutely wouldn't go for...

📍 A Husky.

And before Husky owners come for me, hear me out. 😂

Huskies are gorgeous dogs. They're intelligent, playful, and full of personality.

But they're also one of those breeds that can humble a new pet parent very quickly.

A lot of people fall in love with the looks, the piercing eyes, fluffy coat, and wolf-like appearance.

What they don't always see is that Huskies come with:

• Energy that seems never-ending
• A need for daily exercise and mental stimulation
• Consistent training and structure
• Heavy shedding for most of the year
• An impressive talent for finding ways to escape

If they get bored, they'll create their own fun.

And trust me, you probably won't enjoy their version of fun. 😂

The problem isn't that Huskies are bad dogs.

The problem is that many people choose them for how they look rather than whether they're a good fit for their lifestyle.

One of the biggest mistakes first-time pet parents make is choosing a pet with their eyes instead of their reality.

Before bringing any pet home, ask yourself:

• Do I have enough time for daily care?
• Can I handle this pet's energy level?
• Am I prepared for the grooming requirements?
• Can I commit to training and socialization?

The best first pet is the one whose needs you can consistently meet.

At Ajovia, we believe responsible pet ownership starts long before the first walk, toy, or vet visit.

It starts with choosing the right pet for your lifestyle.

A wagging tail doesn't always mean a happy dog.

It's one of the biggest misconceptions in pet care.

Dogs wag their tails for different reasons, including:

• Excitement
• Nervousness
• Uncertainty
• Alertness
• Happiness

That's why experienced pet owners don't focus on the tail alone.

They also observe:

🐾 Ear position
🐾 Eye contact
🐾 Body posture
🐾 Movement and energy levels

Understanding your dog's body language helps you respond appropriately and build a stronger bond.

The next time you see a wagging tail, take a moment to look at the whole dog, not just the tail.

Most people do the WRONG thing after a dog bite. 🚨

And those first few minutes?
They matter more than you think.

If a dog bites you:

🐾 Don’t panic
🐾 Wash the area IMMEDIATELY with soap and running water
🐾 Stop the bleeding with a clean cloth
🐾 Don’t “wait and see”, get medical attention fast
🐾 If possible, confirm the dog’s vaccination status

Even a small bite can become a serious problem if ignored.

A lot of people know how to love pets.
Not everyone knows how to handle emergencies.

Now you do. 💚

Do you know that animals are incredibly good at hiding pain, discomfort, and illness?

Your pet may be sick long before it starts acting sick.

Here are five quiet signs your pet may need attention:

• Sleeping more than usual
• Suddenly hiding often
• Reduced appetite
• Aggressive or unusual behaviour
• Excessive licking or scratching

Smart pet care isn’t just reacting when things get bad.
It’s noticing the little things early.

Because the smallest signs can say the biggest things.

Have you observed any of these in your pet(s)?
