As part of activities commemorating World Rabies Day 2026, with the theme โ€œStronger Together,โ€ school sensitisation programmes will be conducted to educate pupils on the dangers of rabies and how it can be prevented.

Children are an important part of rabies prevention. Teaching them how to interact safely with dogs, avoid animal bites, report bites immediately to an adult, and understand the importance of vaccinating dogs can help protect children, families and entire communities.

The sensitisation will focus on rabies awareness, dog-bite prevention, responsible dog ownership, the importance of vaccination, and the appropriate steps to take following possible exposure to rabies.

By taking rabies education directly to schools, we are not only creating awarenessโ€”we are helping to build a generation that understands that rabies is preventable and that prevention begins with knowledge and responsible action.

Protect the child. Vaccinate the dog. Educate the community.

Rabies is preventable.
