🚧 MONKEY MOUNTAIN UPDATE 🐒

The construction at the Monkey Mountain has been extended, so our wait for Punchi and his monkey friends will be a little longer. 🥹🤎

But it’s okay… we’ll wait. 🌿

These improvements are being made to install sunshades and other structures for the monkeys, giving them a safer and more comfortable environment. 🐒🏗️☀️

We may miss seeing Punchi for now, but knowing that the work is being done for the monkeys’ well-being makes the wait worth it. 🤎

So for now…

Rest well, Punchi Kun. 🥹🐒
We’ll be here waiting for you. ❤️

Looks like Punch is taking his swimming class today! 😭🤣

Punch: “Wait… I’m still figuring this out!” 😂

But honestly, this little guy is always ready for another adventure. 🥹❤️

That moment when Punch suddenly woke up during grooming and panicked… 🥺💔 He ran and hid, and my heart broke watching him.

After everything he has been through, sometimes you can’t help but wonder if those experiences still affect him. We can’t know for sure if Punch has trauma, but moments like this remind us how important it is for him to feel safe and supported. 🥺

Thankfully, his friends were there to comfort him. ❤️🐒
Maybe healing also looks like this—having someone stay when you’re scared.

Go, Punch. You’re not alone anymore. 🥹❤️

Celebrating 39 Years of Ichikawa Zoo! 🐒🌿

On August 21, 1987, Ichikawa City Zoo first opened its doors. This year, they’re celebrating their 39th anniversary! 🥳

As a special thank-you to the community, elementary and junior high school students will enjoy FREE admission on Sunday, August 23, 2026. 🎒✨

And there’s more! ❤️
Ichikawa City residents will also be admitted FREE of charge on this special day. 🐒🌿

ICHIKAWA ZOO UPDATE 📌

🐒🤎 Monkey Mountain — August 16

Ichikawa Zoo shared an important update regarding the ongoing efforts at Saruyama and Punch’s gradual integration into the group.

The zoo is taking careful steps to reduce fights, protect Punch’s well-being, and maintain peace within the troop. Most importantly, Punch’s feelings come first—his integration will never be forced. 🥺🤎

The monkeys separated this time are not “bad monkeys” either. The zoo will continue to monitor everyone carefully and provide the care they need.

And this is just the beginning. 🌿
With air conditioning, sunshades, and planned backyard expansion, the zoo hopes to continue improving the living environment for the Japanese macaques—and possibly make bigger improvements to Saruyama in the future.

Thank you, Ichikawa Zoo, for continuing to care for Punch and every monkey in the troop. 🙏🐒🤎
