An Update on Our Sweet Peanut
First, we want to thank everyone who reached out, donated, offered assistance, and supported Peanut and our sanctuary during today's emergency. We are especially grateful to Jen, Nicole, and Paul for coming together to make sure Peanut received the care he needed.
Unfortunately, after being evaluated at Steamtown Veterinary Hospital, we learned that the growing mass on Peanut's leg was making it increasingly difficult for him to stand and walk. He was also dealing with significant dental disease and deteriorating vision. With the mass too large to operate on and his quality of life declining, we made the difficult decision to help Peanut peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge.
We don't want today to be remembered for how Peanut's life ended. We want to celebrate the wonderful life he had.
Peanut came to us after animal control found him wandering the streets of Wilkes-Barre. His owner had passed away, and although family had taken him in, he somehow got loose. His family ultimately surrendered him to our sanctuary.
We found Peanut a fabulous Forever Foster home, where he was spoiled rotten, loved beyond measure, and given the comfort and security he deserved. He lived to the wonderful age of 15½.
This is exactly what we do at Pattie's Waggin' Tails Senior Sanctuary. We give senior dogs another chapter, another family, and the opportunity to spend their remaining years knowing they are loved.
Peanut's story isn't a sad one. It's a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together for a senior dog who deserves a second chance.
Thank you to his wonderful Forever Foster family for giving him such a beautiful final chapter, and to everyone who helped us care for him today.
Rest peacefully, sweet Peanut. You were one very lucky and very loved little man.
