Bow wow, my darling dogs! This is Fruitycake, and today’s Pawcast is especially for every shelter dog who might be wondering if anyone still cares. I’m here to remind you that you are loved, you are needed, and the world is better because you’re in it. Even if you’ve been waiting years for your forever home, never give up. You are already making a difference!

This Is…Me. Trotter.

I have a nose that can find just about anything. Interesting smells in the grass, another dog’s footsteps, or maybe a sandwich somebody dropped three days ago. But there’s one thing I haven’t been able to find yet. My person. I keep looking, though. Maybe someday I’ll turn a corner and find someone who’s been looking for me, too.

I’m four years old, 51 pounds, and I love other dogs, adventures and affection. But I don’t want to explore the whole world alone. I want someone to walk beside me, wait while I investigate something terribly important in the grass, and laugh when I need to smell it again. I don’t need an extraordinary life. I just want to be part of somebody’s everyday life. Maybe yours?

This Is…Me. Porter.

My name is Porter. I am eight years old, and I have spent enough time being a good dog to know exactly what I want in life. I want someone who laughs when I do something silly, someone who throws a ball even when I bring it back for the hundredth time, and someone who looks at my face and sees a best friend instead of just another dog waiting in a shelter. I may have a little gray around my muzzle, but please don’t mistake that for being old. I still have games to play, adventures to take and so much love that I haven’t had the chance to give anyone yet.

I have lived with another dog before, so I know how to share a home. I love playing, especially chasing balls and frisbees, and I promise to make ordinary days a little less ordinary. My adoption fee has even been sponsored, which means someone already believes I deserve a chance. But I still need the most important thing. I need someone to choose me. I don’t know how many more mornings I will wake up here, hoping today is the day. I just know that I will keep being Porter. Friendly, goofy, hopeful Porter. And when you finally come for me, I won’t care how long it took. I’ll just be happy you’re here.
