Instructor: Eduard van Brunschot
For many years, Eduard was an active member of elite German Shepherd working dog clubs in the Netherlands and Germany. With the dogs he owned and trained, Eduard obtained the highest certificates and titles in the working dog competitions known as “Schutzhund” (nowadays called “IGP”). With his dog Fax von kühlen Norden (Schutzhund III), he competed in the WUSV Worl
d Championship for working dogs in Boston, USA. After moving to Peru in 1996, and by invitation of the Peruvian German Shepherd Association (APPPA), Eduard helped promote and develop working dog training in Peru. He conducted seminars, helper/decoy courses, and dog training courses in different parts of the country. In May 2026, Eduard moved to the beautiful village of Atina, in the Lazio region of Italy. Today, he would like to share his knowledge and experience with people new to dog training, believing that practical knowledge and understanding should be passed on to the next generation — just as very experienced trainers once helped and guided him when he first began. One of the most important lessons for beginners is to understand that a dog is not a human being — and should not be treated as one. Dogs are direct, honest animals by nature, and trust can only be built through consistency, discipline, clarity, and honesty from the handler. Respecting the natural behaviour and psychology of the dog is, in Eduard’s view, the foundation of successful training and mutual trust.
