Part 3: A Second Chance 🐾

When he arrived at WVS Hicks ITC, the reality was clear.

His leg… couldn’t be saved. 💔

The injury was far too severe, and the kindest, most humane option was to go ahead with amputation.

It’s never an easy decision.

But sometimes, saving a life means letting go of a part of it.

Surgery went ahead — and he made it through. 🙏

Today, he’s still at the clinic, receiving care… and something incredible is happening:

He’s healing.
He’s getting stronger.
He’s learning to live again — just a little differently.

And the best part?

He’s doing so well. 🧡💚💛

With a bit more recovery time, we’re hopeful he’ll soon be ready to return and live his life — safer, pain-free, and with a real second chance.

From a frightened, injured stray… to a survivor. ✨

Thank you to everyone who made this possible 🙏❤️

Three months ago, she disappeared without a trace. We feared the worst… 💔

After her sterilization, she was released back on to Velim Fishing Jetty — and then, nothing. No sightings, no signs. We thought she might have been hit by a vehicle… that we had lost her forever.

But today… she came back. 🐾

So thin, so changed, we almost didn’t recognize her. And then it hit us — she’s Queenie’s sister. The same Queenie who fought through a diaphragmatic hernia and found a loving home.

And now her sister is here. Alive. Back. 💛💚🧡

We don’t know where she’s been or what she’s been through… but today, we’re just so grateful she made it back to us 🙏❤️

Another female from Velim transported for sterilisation. Thank you so much to everyone who helped over the past week especially WVS Hicks ITC for allowing us to bring dogs to the outreach camp - A total of eight dogs have now been sterilised and vaccinated! 💛💚🧡

Five of these dogs live in the village adjacent to the jetty. If we are to control the dog population on the jetty it is important to maintain the bordering areas and to sterilise as many as possible to prevent migration and the abandonment of puppies.

We still have a huge amount of work to do and we cannot do it alone. We rely on the help of the local community and our amazing supporters across the globe! ❤️🙏

Last week, we picked up another two female dogs from Velim for sterilisation. During their check-up, one of the girls was diagnosed with (TVT).

TVT is a contagious cancer in dogs that spreads mainly through close contact, especially during mating. The good news is — it is treatable, and she has already started receiving the care she needs ❤️

She will remain under treatment and observation at WVS Hicks ITC until she’s fully recovered, after which she will be released back to her territory, healthy and safe.

We’re committed to giving every dog the chance they deserve — care, dignity, and a better life 🧡💚💛

Part 2: The Breakthrough 🐾

It didn’t happen overnight. For a whole week, the trap was set… and reset… and checked again.

Hope rising, then fading.

Other cats wandered in. Curious. Hungry. But not him.

The one who needed help the most stayed just out of reach.

Until finally… it happened.

He stepped inside.

After days of patience and persistence, he was safely trapped. 🙌

The moment felt like relief, like a turning point — like maybe, just maybe, things were about to change for him.

Without wasting any time, he was carefully transported to WVS Hicks ITC for urgent treatment.

From surviving… to finally being helped.

His journey wasn’t over — but it had truly begun.

Part 3 coming soon…..

Every step like this helps prevent unwanted litters and gives these dogs a healthier, safer future. We’re so grateful to everyone supporting this important work 🙏❤️

Today, we safely transported three juvenile dogs from Colva Beach near the fish market for sterilization 🐾✨

This step is so important in controlling overpopulation and improving the health and welfare of these young pups. Each one is getting a chance at a better, safer future 💛

Huge thanks to everyone involved in making this happen — one small action can make a big difference!

Part 1: The First Encounter 🐾

Julie didn’t go looking for him… he came to her.

One day, a stray cat appeared close to her home. Quiet. Watchful. Different.
But something wasn’t right.

His leg was badly injured — and it was clear he’d been suffering for some time. 💔

He wasn’t friendly. In fact, he was completely feral. Getting close wasn’t an option.
Helping him? That felt almost impossible.

But walking away wasn’t an option either.

Julie learned that a nearby family had been leaving food out for him now and then — small acts of kindness that kept him going. 🙏

Determined to help, she reached out to Goa Cat Haven, who kindly provided a trap cage designed specifically for cats.

The cage was set.

Now… it was a waiting game.

Would he trust it enough to step inside?

To be continued…....

The crowds are gone…
But they’re still here — hungry 🐾💔

Whilst at the jetty last week, we were told about a tiny pup with a plastic ring tightly stuck around his/her neck 💔

These pups belong to our most elusive mama — 6 years and still too clever to be caught for sterilisation.

We tried everything to reach the little one, but it just wasn’t possible…

And then, just as we were planning the next move — the news we were hoping for 🙏

✨ The plastic ring had been safely removed ✨

Sometimes, even when things feel out of reach, kindness finds a way ❤️

From heartbreak to hope ❤️

We went back to check on Shanti at a local resort after her accident… and the news couldn’t be better — she’s doing amazing and is finally walking again! 🐾✨

A huge thank you to the incredible hotel staff who cared for her with so much love and dedication, and we’re grateful we could support her recovery with the medication she needed.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Keep going, Shanti — you’re stronger than ever! 💪🐶
