Rest in eternal peace. Kalimpong News Express posted a photo of lost deaf dog(aged one year) 2 days ago as today we have learnt that he was a victim of Hit and run case at relli road. One good Samaritan has filed a police case. Hope the one who have committed this will soon come under bar. Maitri animal care is also closely monitoring the case with good Samaritan.

Kalu was on his way to the shelter for an X-ray when he suddenly jumped out of his basket and ran away near the shelter area. He may be scared and hiding nearby.

His family is heartbroken and missing him terribly. 💔

Good afternoon everyone,

This is GEN-Z — one of our few Parvo patients of 2026. 🐾

With Parvo virus currently on the rise, we request all pet owners to kindly take precautionary measures.

Parvo is a fast-spreading viral infection. Yes, it can be fatal — but mostly when early signs are ignored or treatment is delayed.

It becomes dangerous when:
1. Your pet is unvaccinated.
2. The early signs are not recognised.
3. Loss of appetite for a day is ignored.
4. Symptoms like lethargy, bloody diarrhoea, vomiting (mucus or white foam), or fever are overlooked.
5. Treatment is delayed due to inconvenience.
6. Most importantly — post-treatment care is not given properly.

Caring for a Parvo patient is not easy. It is tedious, emotionally draining and comes with sleepless nights. But if you are willing to sacrifice a few days of comfort and give your pet the attention, warmth, sunlight and love they need — they can fight through it.

All he needed was timely treatment, dedicated post-care, warmth, sunlight and unconditional love.

Please vaccinate your pets.

A Gentle Note to All Pet Parents 🐾

We would like to kindly inform everyone that we do not provide house visits.

When we politely decline a request for a home visit, please understand that we are not declining treatment for your pet. Your animal’s well-being truly matters to us. However, for proper examination and complete treatment, we request that you bring your pet to the clinic.

It is just the two of us managing the clinic, while also being responsible for the daily care of our 25+ dogs and cats. Between consultations, treatments, feeding, cleaning, and attending to animals already under our care, stepping out for house visits becomes extremely difficult.

Additionally, travelling for home visits means carrying limited supplies. If even one required medicine is unavailable at that moment, the treatment may remain incomplete. At the clinic, we are in a more stable and prepared environment to provide uninterrupted care.

We sincerely request your understanding and cooperation. Bringing your pet to the clinic helps us ensure they receive proper attention and the best care possible.

We received a concern from the Crown Lodge area regarding a dog who was being kept tied outside continuously, in surroundings that were unhygienic and poorly maintained. Understandably, this led to the dog barking frequently, which caused distress to both the animal and the neighbourhood.

In response, a Maitri member was sent to assess the situation and speak with the person in charge of the dog. The conditions on site were found to be exactly as described. During the conversation, we were informed that the dog was being kept temporarily and was expected to be sent to Kurseong in a few days.

However, a similar complaint was received again after a short period. Subsequently, our team members conducted an unannounced visit. While the area had been cleaned by then, the dog continued to remain tied outside the house.

Upon further discussion, the gentleman informed us that the dog had been adopted from an acquaintance. We then reached out to the dog’s original guardian, who shared that the dog had been given up for adoption due to being attacked by other dogs. When they became aware of the conditions in which the dog was being kept, they were deeply concerned and immediately took the dog back into their care.
