Fear-Based Dog Training: Does It Really Fix Aggression?

Using fear or force may temporarily suppress a dog’s behaviour, but it does not necessarily address the underlying cause of aggression.

Research has associated aversive training methods with increased stress and welfare concerns, while confrontational methods may provoke defensive aggression in some dogs.

In this video, I share my experience as a dog trainer and explain why understanding the dog’s triggers, environment, routine, and family interactions is important when dealing with aggression.

Anti-tick medicines can be a blessing for dogs that need protection from ticks and tick-borne diseases—but they may not be the right choice for every dog.

In this video, I’ve discussed the known risks and possible side effects of commonly used anti-tick medicines. If you’re giving one to your dog, it’s important to know what reactions to watch for and discuss your dog’s individual risk with your veterinarian.

Tick prevention should be based on your dog’s exposure, health, lifestyle and local tick risk—not simply used without considering whether ongoing treatment is needed.

The purpose of this video is not to create fear around anti-tick medicines, but to help pet parents make informed decisions.
