The Aravalli Hills are not just ancient rocks — they are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and a natural shield that protects millions of people across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi-NCR & Gujarat from desertification, pollution, water scarcity and climate imbalance 🌎🌱. They help recharge groundwater, regulate weather, and sustain biodiversity — something we cannot afford to lose.
🛑 But a recent Supreme Court ruling — which adopted a new legal definition that only considers landforms above 100 metres as “Aravalli” — has triggered widespread outrage. Critics fear this could exclude huge stretches of ecologically important hills from protection, opening them up to mining and exploitation that would harm the environment forever.
📢 Across Rajasthan — from Udaipur to Sikar and Alwar — people, lawyers, youth and environmental groups are protesting, raising their voices for real protection and clear laws that don’t weaken nature’s defense wall 🌳📣.
