Case Spotlight: Complex Radial–Ulnar Fracture Revision – Small Breed Dog
When implant failure and bone loss complicate fracture repair, restoring stability
becomes the priority.
This revision case demonstrates how OssiVet® was used alongside temporary external fixation to fill a significant bone void, support structural stability, and complement the surgeon's fixation strategy.
A great example of tackling one of the most challenging orthopaedic scenarios in small animal surgery.
Interested in seeing how OssiVet® could fit into your orthopaedic cases? Reach out to arrange a meeting or product demonstration.

Case Spotlight: Comminuted Radius Ulna Fracture.
Complex fractures require more than rigid fixation.
This Labrador with a severe comminuted radius and ulna fracture was treated using standard orthopaedic fixation complemented with OssiVet®. Follow-up radiographs demonstrated progressive remodelling.
A compelling example of managing challenging multifragmentary fractures.

Want to discuss how OssiVet® can complement your fracture fixation procedures? Reach out to book a meeting or live demonstration.

Case Spotlight: Partial Tarsal Arthrodesis Using OssiVet®

Arthrodesis of small, high-load joints demands precise fixation and structural support.

In this canine partial tarsal arthrodesis, OssiVet® was used as an adjunct to plate and screw fixation to support the prepared arthrodesis interface and complement mechanical stabilization.

A valuable example of using a synthetic bone adhesive in a mechanically demanding periarticular application.

If you'd like to learn how OssiVet® can support your arthrodesis procedures, contact us to arrange a meeting or hands-on demonstration.

Why Consider OssiVet® in Arthrodesis Procedures?
Successful arthrodesis depends on achieving and maintaining stability while supporting long-term fusion.
OssiVet® can be used as an adjunct to internal fixation to:
• Provides adhesion directly to prepared bone surfaces
• Immediate stability at the arthrodesis interface
• Naturally remodels into bone over time
• Helps reduce micromotion across the fusion interface
Whether in carpal, tarsal, or other challenging arthrodesis procedures, through its load sharing properties is complements traditional fixation techniques to support earlier mobilisation and weightbearing.

Clinical Tip: OssiVet® to Support Small Animal Arthrodesis
One of the challenges in arthrodesis procedures is achieving consistent contact across irregular bone surfaces and voids created during joint preparation.
Surgeons using OssiVet® commonly apply the material within the prepared arthrodesis interfaces before final plate and screw fixation. OssiVet’s low-viscosity form allows the material to flow throughout the arthrodesis site, where it adheres to the surrounding bone surfaces while simultaneously creating immediate mechanical interlocking within the joint space. This combination of adhesion and structural integration helps improve initial stability and maintain close apposition of the fusion surfaces. Over time, OssiVet supports cellular infiltration and bone ingrowth, with the material gradually remodelling into bone as the joint fuses.
The result is immediate support across the prepared fusion site while providing an osteoconductive matrix that remodels into natural bone over time.
How do you approach challenging arthrodesis cases in your practice?
