GABBY is one of our oldies, she came to us from a rescue in Mayo. Gabby is not special needs but at the age of eight her owner handed her into a local Vet to be pts. I've no history as to why this happened, it may be that her owner could no longer care for her and perhaps felt it kinder to have her pts, sometimes peoples circumstances change and things become overwhelming. Rather than put her down, the vet's contacted NWSPCA, Mayo and they were able to take her. Over the years we have adopted a number of special needs kitties from them and it so happened that we had just adopted Truffles (young kitty that had a hip replaced) and Trevor was due to go over to Mayo to pick her up, we got a call from NWSPCA asking if we could adopt Gabby too, which we did. That was three years ago and dear old Gabby is doing great, she is almost toothless now but loves her grub and big sleeps 😃, she prefers her own company and her pink donut bed which she doesn't share. Gabby will nurse on Trevor's lap (probably because her owner was a man), she will allow me to give her a mush session but she never comes on my lap. Gabby is set in her ways and seems very content in her retirement home. The stars definitely aligned for Gabby that day three years ago.
