The Order of Malta Ambulance Corps is a voluntary ambulance and first aid organisation The Order of Malta is an registered charity.

Order of Malta Ambulance Corps Rathdrum Unit was first established in the 1980’s and has been providing a range of services to Rathdrum, Wicklow, and surrounding communities since then. These services include first aid and ambulance cover at a range of sporting events including local athletic club races, national cycle events, off road motor racing, equestrian events, GAA fixtures, public events a

nd festivals, public first aid training, 4x4 ambulance support to the National Ambulance Service during extreme weather events, and ambulance transport to persons with infirmity or disability who cannot use routine transport to attend clinical or social appointments. All these services are provided by our volunteer members who also contribute to the running of the unit in terms of organisation and fundraising. As part of a nationally registered charity the Rathdrum Order of Malta Unit is solely dependent on funds that can be raised locally and exclusively through donations and where possible grant funding. Yesterday, members of the Order Of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Rathdrum unit were delighted to provide medical cover at the Wicklow Vintage Club Vintage and Family Fun Day.

It was a fantastic event, showcasing an impressive variety of vehicles from different eras. From beautifully restored classics to unique vintage machinery, there was something to capture the interest of everyone in attendance. The care, dedication and pride shown by the owners was evident throughout the day.
We would like to congratulate Wicklow Vintage Club, all exhibitors, volunteers and everyone involved in organising such an entertaining and enjoyable family day out.

A special word of thanks to Wicklow Vintage Club for their continued support and engagement with our unit over the years. Their ongoing encouragement and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Today, members of Order Of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Rathdrum unit were delighted to provide medical cover for the annual Strip and Dip event at Magheramore Beach in aid of Aoibheann's Pink Tie , Ireland’s national children’s cancer charity.

A huge congratulations to all the ladies who braved the elements and took part in this fantastic event. Your enthusiasm, courage, and support for such an important cause were truly inspiring. We would also like to congratulate the organisers for delivering another outstanding and well-supported event.

After a short break for our crew, it was onwards to Echelon Park, Aughrim, where our members provided medical cover for Round 3 of the Tailteann Cup clash between Wicklow GAA and Tipperary GAA

Congratulations to both teams on a sporting and entertaining contest, and well done to all the spectators who came out to support their counties.

Best of luck to all students sitting the Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations, which begin tomorrow.

Months of hard work, study, and preparation have brought you to this point. Now is the time to trust in your efforts, stay calm, and put all that hard work to good use.

Today, WC16 and crew from the Order Of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Rathdrum unit were proud to assist our colleagues from units across the region in providing medical cover for the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin.

A huge congratulations to all participants who took part in this fantastic event. Well done to everyone who to walked, jogged or ran today.

We would also like to commend the organisers, volunteers and stewards who contributed to the smooth running of a very well organised event.

Finally, we wish all patients who required medical attention throughout the day a speedy recovery and hope they are feeling much better soon.

Well done to all involved in making the day such a great success.

Today saw volunteers from the Order Of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Rathdrum Unit travel to west Wicklow to the beautiful Blessington Lakes to provide medical cover for the Dublin Metropolitan Grand League Regatta 2026.

Congratulations to all participants on a fantastic day of racing on the lakes, set against some stunning scenery. It was great to see such skill, sportsmanship and determination displayed throughout the day.

Later in the day, a second crew from the unit provided ambulance cover in Echolan Park, Aughrim for the Tailteann Cup – Round 2B clash between Wicklow GAA and Limerick Gaa

Congratulations to both sets of players on a very sporting and competitive game, and we hope all supporters, officials and spectators had a great day out and a safe journey home.

This afternoon our volunteers were back in Echolan Park, Aughrim providing ambulance cover for Round 5 of the Christy Ring Cup between Wicklow GAA and Roscommon GAA.

Congratulations to both sets of players on a sporting and competitive match, with great skill and determination shown throughout by both teams.

A big thank you also to the officials and organisers for the smooth running of the event.

We hope that all players, officials and spectators who attended the match got home safely afterwards.

We wish both teams the very best in the remainder of their season.

Today we celebrate International Nurses Day and recognise the incredible dedication, compassion, and professionalism shown by nurses every single day.

From busy hospital wards to community care and emergency departments, nurses play a vital role in caring for people at their most vulnerable moments. Their kindness, skill, reassurance, and tireless commitment never go unnoticed.

Busy weekend for our crews as we were out and about across Wicklow and Wexford providing ambulance cover for a number of fantastic events.

Yesterday morning, we were proud to provide ambulance cover for Darkness Into Light Wicklow Town in aid of Pieta. Ending Su***de. Beginning Hope. A huge well done to the organisers for putting together such an important and moving event, and to the large crowd who turned out in support of such a meaningful cause.

After an early start, it was then back to base for a short rest for WC16 before heading back out with a second crew to North Wexford for the opening of Motoland.Congratulations to all competitors on a great day’s racing, and well done to the management and staff of Motoland on their excellent facilities and hospitality throughout the event.

This morning, we were back out again alongside our colleagues from the Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Bray unit providing ambulance cover for the Bray Wheelers CC Shay Elliott and Ken Duff memorial races.

Congratulations to Bray Wheelers on a very well run event, and well done to all cyclists who took part in a great morning’s racing.

Busy day for our volunteers in Rathdrum today, with two ambulances on duty at separate events across the county.

Earlier, one of our crews provided cover at the 2026 Masters Grasstrack Championship, hosted by Rathdrum Offroad Club .

It was a fantastic day’s racing, and we’d like to congratulate all the riders on their skill and determination out on the track. A big well done also to the organisers for putting together such a large and well-run event — the atmosphere spoke for itself, and there’s no doubt the spectators went home happy.

Later in the day, our second crew deployed to Echolan Park, Aughrim for the 3rd round of the Christy Ring Cup clash between Wicklow GAA and Meath GAA .

Congratulations to both sets of players on a very sporting and entertaining game of hurling, with great skill and commitment shown throughout.

Both ambulances and crews are now safely back at base, restocked and ready for their next outing.

Our crew have finished duty at the ALTAR Fuel 50km / 100km Ultra Marathon in Avondale Forest Park today, with fantastic sunshine and a beautiful setting throughout the course.

A massive congratulations to all participants who took on this demanding challenge. Completing distances of 50km and 100km is a remarkable achievement and a true testament to endurance, determination, and resilience. Well done to each and every one of you.
We’ve no doubt there will be a few well-earned rest days ahead, with some blisters being carefully looked after over the next few days!
