✨ 50 Years of Castlerea Mart ✨

For half a century, Castlerea Co-Operative Livestock Mart has been part of the fabric of our town and farming community, a place where generations have met, traded, chatted and shared many a story.

To mark this special milestone, a Mass of Remembrance will take place in Ring One at Castlerea Mart on Tuesday, 1st September at 7.00pm, remembering all those who have been part of the Mart’s story over the past 50 years.

Anyone with a connection to Castlerea Mart, past or present, is warmly invited to join us.

Refreshments will be served afterwards. We’d love to see some familiar faces and share a few memories. 💛

Well done Aoife from all at castlerea vets.

World Champion and World silver medalist Aoife O’Rourke of Castlrea BC has today been shortlisted for the RTE Sportsperson of the Year award.

Aoife’s outstanding achievements in 2025 are unprecedented and may well be unrepeatable: She won World silver in March at the IBA Women’s World Championships, and 6 months later almost to the day, World gold at the World Boxing Championships.

That she has been shortlisted alongside so many World and European champions in Cycling, Rowing, Swimming, Athletics and together with soccer, GAA and Golf stars shows that Ireland continues to punch above its weight on the international sporting stage.

The winner will be crowned at the RTÉ Sport Awards on Saturday, 20 December on RTE One at 8.05pm
