🏇XC (Cross Country) Day🏇
Who'd have known what was hiding round the back of the arena. Steps, hills, water jumps, well lack of water thankfully as the crew realised it was better to introduce on foot their horses to the obstacles before they rode them especially Carabonara as it was her first time to do XC jumping just like all the riders and Ruby really had her thinking cap on to get her used to everything 💪👍.
The course you all made was tough with tight turns and narrow fences added but yet again you all aced it, so proud of you all especially for everyone's final "gallop" to and over the last fence as each horse absolutely flew over the tyres✈️.
Learning about the rules of XC competition and the need for certain equipment to wear in case of emergency etc was all included in learning and explanation of how hard XC can be and why groundwork and dressage along with bravery from riders and horses really comes in to play. How you're positioned and how the horse needs a 5th leg is really important.🏇🏇🏇

Trotting up for soundness was a real question time understanding and realising the need to check our horses to be fit and sound for competition. The process of checking microchips against passports was quite fun making sure we had the right horses lol📖
We learnt our horses full passport names today which were quite amusing to hear lol.
Walking strides and distances was so important to cover today for Showjumping. We all have different stride lengths but we all know we must train ourselves and our horses to learn and manage the distances.👍
Realising at what level certain type of competitive questions during jumping would be asked was a really beneficial question and need to know for all. Knowing how to warm up correctly, effectively certainly was useful during, open order" riding.
"Horses for courses" they say and everyone did give their fair share after making such a great course themselves as a team 🐎🐎🐎💪👍 Well done everyone👍💪
Everyone excelled their courses individually and well done to supporting each other and helping each other. 💪Not enough pics today my phone was well below charge unfortunately.

🌦️What a fun day of camp that was had and luckily the weather held out for us with just the odd shower.
There were plenty of giggles, team work, fun, energy and pure horse mad participants with a bit of acrobatics thrown in to test the, "bombproofness" of their horses and ponies. ☺️🏇 🐕🐶Oh and of course some puppy time at lunchtime couldn't be missed.🐶🐕
From necessary daily routine to learning to plaiting manes and tails, to tacking up and learning about equipment, to riding freely as a group, it was all included today. The ridden time reminded me of the under 10s SJI warm up arena at times(all go, go, go!) Markings sheets and placings/prizes from today's dressage test to follow as I go through everyone's ridden video.
What a great bunch of horse and pony owners you all were, the horses were certainly well cared for🐎
I honestly hadn't laughed so much in a long time along with being so proud of you all. Well, we won't mention the circus antics whilst testing our ponies bombproofness🙈, I actually managed to capture some of it on photo 🙈.

😊Happy Bank Holiday Monday and August😊
🌩️Pity about the thunderstorm warning today😞 but this week marks the start of a busy week in the equestrian calendar for the whole of the country including ourselves with our eventing themed, "Own A Pony Camp." 🐎
🏇 I know a few of you are away to Ballintra Horse and Pony Races today. I hope you're all having a great time and there's also the Clonmany Show tomorrow and Wednesday; a great family event for everyone. There's also the RDS Horse Show this week that a few of you lucky ducks are heading to. I hope you have so much fun and see some beautiful horses and ponies and set your goals to compete there some day. Myself and Jigalo had a great time when we competed there.
Preparations are under way for Wednesday and another fun filled time was had at the yard over the weekend including a nice time and sing song of Happy Birthday to Lily yesterday. Hope you had a great spin cantering through the fields getting your first taste of cross country🎉🎂Happy Birthday again from us all🎂
Trying to not end on a somber note but more of a thanks and celebration of knowing his ways with horses, the equestrian world lost the genius that was Monty Roberts over the weekend. A true horseman that believed horses should be understood and treated with kindness, respect and individuality. I'd like to think we also share Monty's compassion and kindness to our equines another reason they love being around us and try so hard for us. I have a book or two of his that anyone is welcome to borrow and read about his life and training of horses.🫶R.I.P. Monty Roberts 🫶

🥕🥕🥕We were gifted with the most delicious box of carrots from one of our local stores 'Flanagan's Vivo Essentials' recently. It's true they tasted great, I heard it from the, "Horses Mouth," quite literally.😆🥕🥕🥕
🫏After receiving this generosity we continued to spread the kindness and thanks by giving a small donation to Donegal Donkey Sanctuary. It might help with a few small bales of hay or carrots, if their donkeys are anything like our donkey, they'll certainly love carrots!!! Every little helps when you're caring for animals.🫏
The horses and myself are forever thankful to all the carrots, apples and other yummy treats and veg that everyone brings to the yard for our equines. It certainly does keep the chain of food waste reduction down in the area, as they certainly get their fair share and I know many of you specifically go to the shops for their treats too.
Thanks very much and thank you again to Katelyn for thinking on us☺️🥕🥕🥕🐎.

🔢We are always counting, may it be in the rhythm of the paces, counting strides ...its never ending. Bring on camp and activity days for feed rationing and calculating weight.🔢
