Sustav žardinjera za urbano ozelenjavanje
Ideja za izradu žardinjera došla je tijekom studija šumarstva u Zagrebu. Svo vrijeme studija sebe sam vidio negdje u hortikulturi i sve više me je zanimala tema, kako kvalitetno i estetski “ozeleniti” urbane prostore poput trgova, terasa, parkirališta, kolodvora itd. gdje ne postoji niti kvadratni centimetar tla za sadnju.
Rješenje sam vidio u većim žardinjerama u koje bih posadio, ne cvijeće, nego grmove i manje drveće.
Na tržištu su postojale plastične žardinjere, što nije dolazilo u obzir, zatim velike keramičke žardinjere, kod kojih je problem da nisu otporne na mraz a i transport takvih žardinjera, nakon što je u njih posađena biljka, vrlo je rizičan. I na kraju betonske žardinjere koje su mi bile ružne.
Rješenje sam vidio u kombinaciji betona i keramike. Odnosno, nakon što bih betonsku jezgru izlio u kalupu, obložio bih je keramikom.
Žardinjere „RADIONICE KERAMIKE ASZTALOS“ spoj su dvaju materijala : betona i keramike.
Betonska jezgra žardinjere nastala je lijevanjem i vibriranjem betona u kalupu i osigurava joj robusnost , otpornost na mraz , metereološke i kemijske utjecaje i to desetljećima.
Šamotna glinena masa čijim pečenjem nastaje keramika , služi za oblaganje betonske jezgre i daje vanjski izgled žardinjere. Visina žardinjere je 45 cm, a gornji promjer 67 cm. Ciljana težina žardinjere je oko 100 kg, čime je sigurna od prevrtanja u slučaju jakoga vjetra, a opet dovoljna je jedna osoba za njeno premještanje. ( foto ).
Transport i premještanje oko 100 kg teške žardinjere jednostavan je zahvaljujući gornjem izbočenom rubu i jednostavnim kolicima i u slučaju da je napunjena zemljom te je zbog toga idealno rješenje za javne površine, odnosno zatvaranje i otvaranje pješačkih zona, zelenih površina i sl.Kovani umetci
Kovani umetci predstavljaju funkcionalan i dekorativan dodatak žardinjerama. Izrađeni su ručno od kovanog željeza te se jednostavno postavljaju u žardinjeru, bez potrebe za dodatnim učvršćivanjem. Za osiguranje protiv eventualne krađe, mogu se zaključati kroz otvor za otjecanje vode.
Njihova osnovna funkcija je pružanje potpore penjačicama poput ruža, klematisa, bršljana i drugih ukrasnih biljaka. Međutim, njihova vrijednost nije samo praktična. Vertikalnim linijama i ručno kovanim detaljima oni žardinjeri daju novu dimenziju te od nje stvaraju samostalan vrtni ili arhitektonski element.
Kombinacijom keramike, betona, biljke i kovanog željeza nastaje sklad različitih materijala i tekstura koji prostoru daje karakter i prepoznatljivost.
Kovani umetci omogućuju:
vertikalno ozelenjavanje prostora bez sadnje u tlo,
stvaranje zelenih pregrada i prirodnih vizualnih barijera,
naglašavanje ulaza, terasa, šetnica i trgova,
dodatnu dekorativnu vrijednost tijekom cijele godine, čak i kada biljke miruju,
jednostavnu zamjenu ili uklanjanje prema potrebi.
Zahvaljujući različitim oblicima i visinama, svaki umetak može biti prilagođen karakteru prostora i odabranoj biljnoj vrsti.
Sve žardinjere izrađene su sistemom kalupa, tako da se povećavanjem ( kopiranjem ) kalupa proizvodnja može povećavati po želji.
Kombinacijom najboljih svojstava dvaju materijala – čvrstoće betona i neograničenih mogućnosti oblikovanja i glaziranja keramike, dobili smo žardinjeru koja je idealna za uređenje kako privatnih vrtova i okućnica, putova i prilaza, tako i javnih površina, šetnica, pješačkih zona trgova i sl.

The idea for creating these planters came to me during my forestry studies in Zagreb. Throughout my studies, I saw myself working somewhere in horticulture, and I became increasingly interested in the question of how to green urban spaces such as squares, terraces, parking lots, railway stations, and similar areas where there is not a single square centimetre of soil available for planting.
I saw the solution in large planters that could accommodate not flowers, but shrubs and small trees.
At the time, the market offered plastic planters, which were not an option for me. There were also large ceramic planters, but these were not frost-resistant, and transporting them after planting was risky. Finally, there were concrete planters, which I found aesthetically unappealing.
The solution, as I saw it, was to combine concrete and ceramics. After casting a concrete core in a mould, I would clad it with ceramic elements.
The planters of ASZTALOS CERAMIC STUDIO are a fusion of two materials: concrete and ceramics.
The concrete core is created by casting and vibrating concrete in a mould. It provides exceptional strength, frost resistance, and long-term durability against weathering and chemical influences for decades.
The ceramic cladding is made from chamotte clay. Once fired, it forms the outer surface of the planter, giving it its distinctive appearance and aesthetic character.
The height of the planter is 45 cm and the upper diameter is 67 cm.The target weight of each planter is approximately 100 kg (220 lbs). This makes it stable enough to resist tipping in strong winds, while still allowing a single person to move it when necessary (see photo).
Transporting and repositioning a planter weighing around 100 kg is surprisingly simple thanks to its projecting upper rim and a basic hand trolley. Even when filled with soil, the planter can be moved with relative ease, making it an ideal solution for public spaces where pedestrian zones, green areas, or access points need to be opened, closed, or rearranged.
Wrought Iron Inserts
The wrought iron inserts are both a functional and decorative addition to the planters. Handcrafted from wrought iron, they can be easily placed into the planter without the need for additional fixing. To prevent potential theft, the inserts can be secured with a lock through the planter's drainage hole.
Their primary function is to provide support for climbing plants such as roses, clematis, ivy, and other ornamental species. However, their value extends far beyond practicality. Through their vertical lines and handcrafted forged details, they add a new dimension to the planter, transforming it into a distinctive garden or architectural feature in its own right.
The combination of ceramics, concrete, plants, and wrought iron creates a harmonious interplay of materials and textures, giving a space character, elegance, and a unique identity.
The wrought iron inserts enable:
vertical greening of spaces without the need for planting directly into the ground,
the creation of green partitions and natural visual screens,
the enhancement of entrances, terraces, promenades, and public squares,
year-round decorative value, even during periods when plants are dormant,
easy replacement or removal whenever required.
Thanks to their variety of shapes and heights, each insert can be adapted to the character of the space and the specific plant species selected.
By combining functionality with craftsmanship, the wrought iron inserts extend the planter beyond its traditional role, creating a living vertical element that enriches both private gardens and public spaces.
All planters are produced using moulds, which means that production can be scaled up as desired simply by increasing the number of moulds.
By combining the best qualities of both materials—the strength and durability of concrete with the unlimited design and glazing possibilities of ceramics—we have created a planter that is equally suited to private gardens, courtyards, pathways, and driveways, as well as public promenades, pedestrian zones, squares, parks, and other urban spaces.
