Dog Friendly Nottinghamshire

Dog Friendly Nottinghamshire Everyone wants their dog to have the very best day out. So where have you been in Nottinghamshire th Hello, I'm Hugo. So be nice. Thanks. Hugo x

I'm a Cockapoo and I live in Nottinghamshire. My mum and dad haven't had a dog before so they're still a bit nervous about where they can take me. I'm nearly three so we've been to a lot of places which over the next few weeks we will list here. But in the meantime, if you have any suggestions, please take a few minutes to share them to help other new dog owners. Oh and please remember that not ev

eryone loves dogs as much as we do and that we should remain respectful to those who do not fully appreciate the adventure, love and friendship owning a dog can bring.

IMPORTANT - please share to raise awareness!

Sadly I’ve just had a heartbreaking phone call from the owner of another dog that’s had to be euthanised this morning due to Alabama Rot.

The dog lived close to New Farm Lane in Nuthall.

The owners walked the dog up New Farm Lane, over the motorway bridge and looped back round as shown in the map below. (The areas marked in red are where both dogs have been walked)

This is the EXACT SAME route we walked Frank on a daily basis. This now leaves us with not much choice but to draw a conclusion that Alabama Rot is some how in that area and that dogs are picking it up... I know we can’t conclusively say this as so little is known about the disease, but an educated guess would lead you to that conclusion.

Please, as a precaution, AVOID this area.

Please also share this to anyone you know in the area and make them aware.

As a reminder, the symptoms are sores / lesions on the feet, toes, legs and in / around the mouth, lips, tongue, gums.

If you suspect any of these symptoms in your dog, don’t waste any time in getting them to the vets - time is critical if your dog has any chance of survival.

We’re not trying to worry anyone or stop anyone from exercising their dog, but we can’t stand by and do nothing and watch another family go through this heartache.

Thank you!

NorthLink Ferries is delighted to announce that four-legged friends can now travel between the Scottish mainland and Orkney and Shetland in our new pet-friendly cabins on passenger vessels MV Hamnavoe, MV Hjaltland and MV Hrossey.

Each ship has two pet-friendly cabins available which have en-suite facilities, side-by-side lower twin bunks and tea and coffee making facilities. These cabins retain the same high standards of comfort as NorthLink’s suite of other cabin types, but also have:

• Vinyl floor coverings instead of carpet
• Lidded dog bins
• A dog bowl provided
• A NorthLink dog treat from ‘Wow Dog’

Customers can walk their dogs on the outer deck and are advised to bring their own bedding for their pets. It is expected that pets will remain on cabin floors and that any mess is cleaned up. As well as the cabin charge, there is a £15 supplement for each pet staying within the cabin. A deep clean will be carried out in each pet-friendly cabin each day.

Kennels are still available on board as well as the opportunity to leave pets in vehicles on the car deck.

Pet-friendly cabins can be booked from Monday at www.northlinkferries.co.uk or at a NorthLink Ferries port or by calling the customer contact centre.

Clumber Park’s Central Bark (100% Dog Friendly Cafe) remains closed for now but there are still plenty of areas in the park to let off steam and stretch those hairy legs. You can walk right around the lake if you’ve got the energy, crossing the newly restored ornamental bridge. There are some lovely views and plenty of paddle points along the way.
It’s a four mile walk and takes about an hour and twenty minutes depending on your dog’s legs.
Timed entry is still in place due to Covid-19 so you need to book ahead but at the time of writing, there are lots of slots available later this week.

Very important information for the public, we ask if you can share this post to help make other pet owners aware.

Our Nottingham staff have asked us to share this post. If you notice any symptoms that resemble poisoning (seizures, twitching, lethargy, foam around mouth, collapse) please contact your nearest surgery.
