Africa and Stan… on holiday.
Let’s start with the horse that is slowly destroying my will to live… 😂
So; after 3 pieces of work… we rescanned Africas leg and it showed ‘slight changes’ - she was described by the vet as now having mild tendinitis - a choice then to be made as to whether to press on and hope to get to the track which was entirely possible OR whether to be patient once again and actually give her 9/10months off before bringing her back in as a 5 year old next autumn with a much better chance of actually running.
Patience won….
Let’s be honest: I was never going to encourage anybody to go down the high risk route - especially when I think a lot of her. Rightly or wrongly 😂 🤷🏻♀️
One day she will repay everybody for this patience (I hope!).
Africa has gone up to holiday with Kate Hazard and Tony the Pony and is already being pampered well beyond her wildest dreams. 🥰
Next up - Stan : he ran his last race this season in July and isn’t a horse that ever does overly well (wouldn’t hold his weight easily) - he came back light after his last run although looked perfectly well.
He’s already had since mid July with us … so coming up for nearly 3 months and although has definitely put on weight - he hasn’t put on anywhere near as much as anything else we have here…
He is having an extended holiday and will have until January to ‘chill’ in the hope that with an extended period of time he will start to put on a bit more condition and be heavier coming back in this time before he starts his pre training.
He has gone over to Moundsley where Corri is keeping us well up to speed with his movements… which so far all look very relaxing. 😴 😎
