With the dry weather looking set to continue throughout August, we have power harrowed more jump landings where the ground was hardest. Mostly these jumps are at 60, 70, 80 and 90 as the majority of people will be comfortable to jump these heights. There is water in the pond water jump and the bigger lake can still be ridden as a quarry/sunken road. If you'd like to book please would you do so online. Thanks.

Wildfire plan. I hope none of us ever needs to put one of these into action, but with the number of wildfires being reported this Summer I'd like to form an alliance with other local yards who can make room to take our horses in an emergency. This would be reciprocal, we would agree to take theirs should they find themselves in an emergency situation where evacuation is necessary. We would need space for 33 horses, fields or stables we'd be grateful for either, could be some and some and would be for mares as well as geldings, preferably within 15-20 minutes from RG40 4LZ in case multiple trips need to be made to evacuate the whole yard. In an ideal world I'd like to find 3 or 4 larger yards or farms who could take them all so as few calls as possible need to be made and very quickly, but would happily form a longer list of smaller yards and divide the horses as appropriate. We would pay any costs for bedding, hay etc and return home as soon as it was safe to do so, leaving any stables/fields clean and tidy. If you could make room and would like to join me in this alliance please would you DM me. If this gets you thinking, but you aren't local, please do copy this or post here so other alliances can be formed in advance of a wildfire we hope no one ever has to experience. Thank you.

Wheatlands Farm is open for schooling but the big lake water has unfortunately dried up 😭. I'm not sure why someone would do this, but it appears the outlet pipe was tampered with about 3weeks ago resulting in 3/4 of the water being let out. For the hot dry weather that followed, what was left has now evaporated. It is very disappointing, but it can still be ridden as a sunken road. Our smaller pond water remains well filled and we'll look at adding more jumps round it to make it more interesting/challenging ahead of the weekend. To prevent this happening again we will build something over the lake outlet but in the meantime, please start doing rain dances!! 🤞

We are hoping for rain next week, but in the mean time and ahead of the Wokingham Pony Club Horse Trials on 7th June, we have used the power harrow to create softer landing strips for some groups of jumps in the first field. Other jumps will be assessed next week with more strips put in where they are needed. If you're schooling with us this weekend we hope you have fun!
