Why you may ask??
To assess the horse’s movement
As an EMT we observe:
• Rhythm and regularity
• Stride length
• Straightness
• Symmetry
• How freely the horse moves?
• Whether they track up evenly?
• Any stiffness or reluctance?
We may notice one side moving differently from the other, such as:
• A shorter stride on one limb
• Uneven hindlimb engagement
• A tendency to carry the head or neck differently
• Pelvic or shoulder asymmetry
• Differences in how the horse loads each limb
These observations can then help guide our treatment.
