Today was my first visit with Charlie 🐾💙

Charlie really wasn’t a fan of having his paws touched, never mind having his nails clipped! As a result, his nails had become rather long, which understandably had his owner worried about his overall wellbeing and whether they were starting to cause him discomfort.

So today was all about working with Charlie, building trust and making the experience as positive as possible 🥰

With the help of the grooming table, suspension harness, plenty of gravy bones 🦴and a lick e lick and a lovely reassuring head massage and calm words from his nanny, we managed to get all four paws done and his nails back to a much more manageable length! ✂️🐾 much to his owners' relief.

The best part? Once we were finished, Charlie was more than happy to stick around for some extra strokes, cuddles and treats! ❤️

A huge little win for Charlie today. Sometimes it’s not about getting everything perfect straight away — it’s about taking things at their pace, allowing them time to sniff about 1st, building confidence and celebrating those little steps forward 🐶✨

There’s something so lovely about watching little personalities grow, getting those familiar cuddles and seeing their happy faces when I arrive ❤️ 🐶

Joey had a Tick 🕷️ – small parasite but can be a big problem!

Ticks can be easy to overlook, but these tiny parasites can cause more than just a nasty bite. They attach to your pet and feed on their blood, and in doing so can potentially transmit infections and diseases.

Ticks can cause:
🐾 Local irritation, redness and inflammation at the bite site
🐾 Blood loss, particularly when multiple ticks are present
🐾 Skin infections following a bite
🐾 Transmission of tick-borne diseases
🐾 In some cases, serious illness requiring veterinary treatment

So, what should you do if you find a tick?

It's important to remove an attached tick promptly and correctly using an appropriate tick-removal tool. Avoid squeezing, burning or applying substances such as oils or alcohol, as these methods can increase irritation and may encourage the tick to release its contents into the bite site.

Regularly check your pet after walks, particularly if they've been through long grass, woodland, heathland or areas of dense vegetation. Remember to check around the ears, neck, between the toes, armpits and groin.

🛡️ Prevention is also an important part of protecting your pet.

There are a variety of veterinary-approved tick preventative treatments available, including spot-ons, tablets and collars. The most suitable option will depend on your pet, their lifestyle and their individual needs.

Even when using preventative treatment, regular tick checks are still recommended.

Mobile veterinary nursing appointments can benefit pets of all ages. Many of our furry friends find travelling and changes to their routine unsettling, which can make appointments far more stressful than they need to be and sometimes worsen anxious behaviours.

Tia is one of those patients who absolutely hates the car and her basket, so instead, the vet nurse comes directly to her! 🏡🐾

She was able to snooze right up until her appointment without leaving the comfort of her own home. A quick nail clip later, and she was free to carry on with her day and enjoy the rest of the sunshine. ☀️

It was wonderful to see you looking so bright and comfortable today, Tia. Take it easy, my little spicy senior feline – enjoy the sunshine and I'll see you again soon! 🐈‍⬛🐾🩺

Nothing is more overwhelming for owners than welcoming a rescue pet into their family and not knowing where to start, especially when an older pet has several areas that need attention.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Phoebe, who has recently come back into her family's care 🐾

We started with a thorough nose-to-tail health check and tackled those long, curling nails to make her more comfortable straight away. We then discussed a plan of action to gradually work through her other needs, including her blown coat, waxy ears, and dental plaque build-up.

Mobile veterinary nurse appointments are about so much more than carrying out a treatment. They provide the opportunity to assess your pet as a whole, answer any questions, prioritise what needs attention first, and create a realistic plan that's tailored to both your pet's needs and your family's circumstances.

Mobile veterinary nurse appointments offer all the same advice and support, but in the comfort of your own home, allowing your pet to remain in a relaxed, familiar environment.

Today I visited the lovely Maisie. This sweet senior lady keeps her mum on her toes with her mobility issues and recent incontinence, so today's appointment was the perfect opportunity to discuss ways to keep Maisie as comfortable, clean, and happy as possible, whilst having a little review of her nails and a**l glands.

Appointments are about so much more than just carrying out a treatment. They're a chance to ask questions, talk through any concerns, and receive practical advice tailored to your pet's individual needs.

🐾 Next up today was the lovely Luna 💕

Her mum wanted to make sure she was nice and comfortable before her upcoming stay in kennels, so a nail clip was scheduled.

Luna is always so happy to see me, greeting me with a waggy tail before enjoying plenty of tickles and, of course, a few tasty treats! She was an absolute superstar for her nail clip as always.
