Session debrief: Wren the GSD Puppy.

Wren is a 16 week old German shepherd Puppy with a bit of spice to her. Owner has been struggling with some reactivity.

In this video I’ll show you just how spicy Wren is, and the huge progress we made in one session.

Is she perfect yet, no, this was only our second session but with more work I’m sure we will be able to walk down that road without any problems.

🐾 Tolen Canine Training is now taking paid bookings 🐾

After a fantastic early period helping local dogs, owners and building my experience, I’m happy to announce that Tolen Canine Training is now officially taking paid bookings! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their dogs so far, and to those that have taken the time to provide feedback and reviews. It’s been great to see the progress you and your dogs have already made.

Due to the testimonials, I’m getting a lot more enquiries and people asking me for help (I’ve had 5 messages today alone! - this is on top of the existing clients I have and the ones I have lined up) and I can’t keep doing this for free when it’s taking a lot of time and resources. As many people know, this was set up with the ambition to become professional and the fact that I’m now in a position to take paid bookings is something I’m extremely grateful for. So thank you!

If you would like to enquire about services and prices etc. please drop me a message and we can discuss.

Again, a massive thank you to everyone who is supporting me and my small little business. It is greatly appreciated! 🐕

Linking on from yesterday’s video about our Dog’s diet, here is a useful tool to research what kibble you’re currently feeding your dog and if you need to switch. You may be shocked at the result! Hope it helps!

Diet is a massive part of your dog’s life, health and longevity. Having them on a well balanced healthy diet can keep them living the best and most fulfilled life possible. Here are just a few staples of my dog’s diet and the health benefits they provide.

Last week’s success stories:

Client 1 - a 9 month old Great Dane cross who can now go for longer walks with his owner due to him smashing his loose lead walking. Owner now feels more in control and he is now more fulfilled through getting his daily exercise.

Client 2 - a 5 month old rescue puppy who was struggling with his crate and toilet training. Since our session last week he has not had one accident inside the house and will now settle in his crate at night.

Well done to both owners for being committed and sticking to the advice given. Both these puppies are on a road to success.

Need help with your dog/puppy? Drop me a message and let’s get a session booked in! Still completely free at this point in time.

Why teach our dogs to play fetch?

Well … if you’re thinking “to exercise the dog” or “to tire the dog out” you’re half correct. It’s actually much more than that.

Dogs are hunter, gatherer and scavenger creatures by nature, it’s in their genetic history to hunt and chase things down. After all, this was how they got food to survive back in the day. However, most owners don’t want their dogs chasing squirrels, off-lead dogs, young children who are playing etc. Therefore, it’s important we give them another outlet to express this behaviour, and we can do this by letting them chase the ball during fetch.

It’s our way of saying “hey mate, you can’t chase those things, but I will give the opportunity to chase in another way.” Once that ‘itch is scratched’ you’ll start to notice the desire to chase the things we don’t want them to chase goes away. That’s their way of saying “you know what, I’ve done enough chasing for today …. I’m good!”

So make fetch part of your play/training time - especially useful if you’re short on time yourself and need to get a quick session in!
