Dog and Owner Training

Dog and Owner Training 41 years passed since my first dog..... many rescues later...... 41 years ago, I got my first dog. In 2019 I met Lulu. Small dogs? - not a chance!

None caused me a problem, even though they were rescues, except one - who hated everyone, except me. Charlie was hard work, he'd been a bait dog and had a rough first year... but 18 months later we took first prize at obedience at the Thamesmead Dog Show run by Bexley Dog Trainers. She was too scared to leave the house and when she did, she thought she should attack first and ask questions later.

I found a Behaviourist, as I knew how to train a dog, I just didn't understand this level of anxiety at the time. With the right tools, just two sessions later we could walk without me face planting, tangling up with other dogs leads or bushes. It took a year, Lulu was afraid of random things - not least the neighbours hanging baskets, a tap and a carrier bag! She would literally turn around or do a wide circle rather than walk past them. It took 2 more years to get her at a level where she will engage with everyone and look to me for guidance (though if you read my first post, just changing the routine can set you right back to crazy) I was gifted this course by my daughter, who was very impressed that I did it again, with a "crazy" dog. I have my certificate to say I'm a trainer and am working on my canine behaviour diploma. I've started helping a couple of rescue pups for free and their owners are turning them around - it's just great to see! So watch this space for tips and tricks.
