Dogs were bred to use their brains as well as their bodies, and boredom can sometimes show up in unexpected ways.

Signs of boredom may include:

⚡️ Thunderstorms can be a very different experience for every dog. ⚡️

While some dogs (like Max and Cullen!) are quite happy to watch the thunder and lightning, many dogs can find storms frightening and stressful.

If your dog struggles during bad weather, a few simple changes can make a big difference:
🐾 Create a safe, cosy space
🐾 Play calming music or the TV
🐾 Keep favourite toys and chews nearby
🐾 Stick to normal routines where possible
🐾 Offer plenty of calm reassurance

Remember, every dog is different. What works for one dog may not work for another, so it’s important to learn what helps your dog feel safe and comfortable.

🐾❄️ Homemade Frozen Paw Treats ❄️🐾

A simple homemade treat for Max & Cullen using natural yoghurt, dog-safe chocolate and their favourite breath freshener powder. 💚

Mixed together, poured into cute paw moulds and frozen for the perfect cooling snack on a warm day. ☀️

Safe, easy and definitely approved by my two official taste testers… although they did insist on supervising every step of the process! 😂🐶🐶

Keeping our dogs safe in the summer ☀️🐾

As the weather starts warming up, it’s so important to make sure our dogs stay cool, hydrated and safe on walks. Different breeds cope with heat differently, and even a normal UK summer day can become too much for some dogs.

At The Woof Nook, your dog’s safety always comes first 🤍

✔️ Early morning or evening walks
✔️ Plenty of water breaks
✔️ Avoiding hot pavements
✔️ Sticking to shaded routes
✔️ Regular cool down breaks

Flat-faced breeds, older dogs, puppies and long-haired breeds can struggle much quicker in warmer temperatures, so always keep an eye out for signs of overheating.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly 🌿🐶
