🐶🌞 HOT WEATHER DOG WALKING POLICY ‼️🔥🔥🔥
As temperatures are predicted to rise this week and next week, the well being of my dogs must come first. So I will be adapting the walks depending on the temperatures. 24 degrees and above is highly dangerous for our doggies, with the risk of over heating, exhaustion, heatstroke and burnt paw pads. I use the 7 second " pavement test " If you press your hand against it and the surface is too hot for your skin, then it is definitely too hot for your dogs paws.
I will be adapting walks to earlier mornings or evenings if temps are reasonable, and to shadier areas. To any clients that still need the same time slots between 11 and 4 I will still offer house visits for garden/toilet breaks, play sessions to keep your pets entertained and to prevent boredom. Also making sure there is plenty of fresh water available to keep them cool. Puzzle games like kongs filled with peanut butter etc that have been frozen are also ideal to keep dogs brains active whilst also keeping them cool at the same time.
If on the days temps are no hotter than 24 degrees, I will still err on the side of caution and shorten the walks, and in grassy, shady areas where possible.
I would ask that clients be as patient and as flexible as possible while I rearrange time schedules to suit everyone.
Lets all make sure our summer is a fun but safe one for our furry friends ❤️🌞🐾🐾🐾
