I think Flash and Beau's humans have me worked out... 🐾🍷🍫

I arrived this morning for my dog sit to find not only two gorgeous Staffies waiting for me... but also a survival pack. ❤️

Wine. ✔️
Chocolate. ✔️
Crisps. ✔️
Crackers. ✔️

I feel very seen. 😆

Now all that's left to do is enjoy some Staffie cuddles with Flash and Beau while pretending I'm going to "save the chocolate for later"... 🍷🐶💙

Beau and Flash are obviously awesome 🐾🐾 but let’s face it, the welcome hamper is exceptional 🥰

Reggie was quietly birdwatching from the raised bed... on his little tippy toes, completely absorbed. 🐦👀
Then Bolt arrived... with all the stealth and subtlety of a hippo. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Seven days.

Fourteen walks.

New smells, new routes, new friends and plenty of time for sniffing, exploring and simply being dogs.

Yesterday was my last walk with Nellie and Winnie while their humans enjoyed a well-earned cruise.

From countryside adventures to pack walks with Dave, Eddie and Teddy, we made sure no two days felt quite the same.

The best part?

Watching two happy little Cavaliers relax into their routine and enjoy their holiday just as much as their owners.

Safe to say I'm going to miss these two. ❤️

I hadn't seen Beau and Flash for a few weeks, but judging by today's welcome, you'd think I'd been gone for years.

There was licking. There was jumping. There was enthusiastic Staffy land-seal warbling.

With the sun shining, we headed out for a lovely walk before making our compulsory stop at The Village Café for sausages and water.

As always, the staffies made plenty of new friends. One chap stopped to chat and, as we were leaving, thanked me for his lunchtime therapy session.

I can't take the credit for that.

Some dogs just have a special gift for making people smile, and Beau and Flash have it in abundance. ❤️🐾 Caroline Hodson Stephen Hickling

Tonight's assignment:

Look after Tilly while her humans celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Our evening schedule included:
🐾 One long walk
🐾 One stolen sock
🐾 Several rounds of competitive sock wrestling
🐾 Maximum cuddles
🐾 Complete exhaustion

I'm pleased to report that Tilly took her responsibilities very seriously.

Her humans enjoyed a special night out together, and Tilly enjoyed what can only be described as the greatest sock of her life.

Now she's asleep on the sofa, dreaming of tomorrow's mischief.

Happy 50th Anniversary to Tilly's wonderful humans ❤️

I've looked after a lot of dogs over the years, but tonight was the first time I've ever played tug with a sock.

Tilly seemed to think it was perfectly normal 😂❤️

Sunshine calls for slower days, shade, sniffing and snoozing ☀️🐾

This morning started early with 13-year-old Phoenix and 7-month-old Odin out before the heat kicked in.

Phoenix enjoyed a gentle potter and a chance to warm her old bones in the morning sunshine, while Odin - being Odin - took his woodland sniffing duties extremely seriously 🌿👃

A longer, shady walk for the puppy before the sun broke through… then home for water, cool floors, open doors and a very long nap for both of them.

Phoenix is currently sunbathing like a retired diva 🕶️

Odin is recharging ready for further chaos later 😂

Stay cool out there, everyone ☀️🐶

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, I wanted to acknowledge the quiet (or not so quiet in Reggie’s case😂) but important role dogs play in so many of our lives.

They give us a reason to get up when things feel heavy.

They never judge us.

They love us when we don’t feel particularly lovable ourselves.

They greet us with pure joy after the hardest days, sit beside us when words feel impossible, and somehow seem to know exactly when we need comfort most.

Dogs remind us to slow down. To be present. To find joy in small things.

To get outside, breathe fresh air and keep moving forward.

And perhaps, most importantly, they teach us how powerful love, loyalty and connection can be.

If you’re lucky enough to share your life with a dog, you’ll probably understand exactly what I mean ❤️

Big sniffs to my Reggie 🐶🐾 and sloppy, staffy kisses to Bolt 🐾😂

I’m with beautiful Phoenix and the wannabe muppet Odin this weekend, while their mums have a birthday break.
