🐾 The reason I do what I do… 🐾
If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d end up running my own dog walking business, I probably wouldn’t have believed you!
I’ve always struggled with the typical 9–5 office life and shift work. I wanted something that gave me more freedom, but more importantly, something I genuinely loved doing every day.
And if you know me, you’ll know I’ve always been obsessed with dogs. I spent what felt like half my childhood begging my mum and dad for one! 😂 So, during Covid, I decided to finally bite the bullet and turn my love for dogs into something more.
I created my business name, built my brand and website, completed my training and gained my Level 3 in Canine Care & Behaviour, along with canine first aid and a few other little courses along the way. 🐶📚
Then came the scary bit… actually finding some dogs to walk!
I started with friends and family, but it took five whole months of advertising, posting on social media and putting myself out there before I found my first three clients.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t doubt myself along the way. There were definitely moments where I wondered if it was ever going to work.
And then… the enquiries started coming. 🥹🐾
One year in, I’d built the business enough to make it profitable, and I honestly couldn’t believe how far it had come.
But the best part? I’ve never wanted to build a business where I’m rushing from dog to dog or completely booked solid just for the sake of earning more.
For me, this job has never been about making loads of money. It’s about earning enough to live while still having the time, energy and patience to give every single one of my doggies the attention they deserve. ❤️
I want to enjoy my days. I want to know the dogs I care for properly. I want plenty of cuddles, muddy paws, waggy tails and the occasional “why did I agree to roll around in that?” moment. 😂
And most importantly, I want to still love what I do years from now.
So that’s my little dog-walking journey so far… and honestly, I’m so glad I took that leap as 6 years on I’m still loving it!🐾❤️
Here’s to the dogs, the muddy walks, the early mornings, the crazy weather and doing a job that never really feels like a job. 🐶✨
