First week back at school and apparently the dogs have also returned to full-time employment. 😂🐾
This week has involved muddy paws, selective hearing, enthusiastic sniffing, at least one dog questioning whether walking was strictly necessary, and the usual amount of poo bags required to run a professional dog-walking business. 💩😂
Behind the chaos, though, there’s a reason I love what we do at Enriching Hounds.
A good walk isn’t just about tiring a dog out. It’s giving them time to sniff, explore, build confidence, practise good choices and — where needed — work on their training in the real world.
Some dogs need adventures.
Some need confidence.
Some need structure.
Some just need somebody willing to stand patiently while they investigate one blade of grass for seven business days. 😂
And that’s exactly why we tailor our walks to the dog in front of us. ❤️

His official duties include driving, carrying things, fixing things, being volunteered for things he knew nothing about, listening to me talk about dogs for approximately 97% of his waking hours, and generally doing whatever the four-legged management team demands. 😂

🐾 **Lazy Saturday? That's Okay!** 💤

Not every day has to be packed with adventures, and that's something we encourage here at Enriching Hounds.

Dogs need rest days just as much as they need exercise. Learning how to switch off, relax, and simply enjoy doing nothing is an important life skill. A dog that can settle calmly at home is often happier, more balanced, and less likely to become overstimulated.

So if today's plans involve a lie-in, a cuddle on the sofa, a sniff around the garden, or chewing a favourite toy... don't feel guilty. 💚

Remember:
🐶 Rest builds recovery.
🐶 Calmness is a skill that can be taught.
🐶 Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical exercise.

So today, embrace the slower pace. Your dog won't judge you for staying in your pyjamas... they might even thank you for it! ☕
