English Country Life Two people trying to live in a self sustaining way, growing and preserving food, breeding chickens,

20/10/2026

Our fruit cage is still producing quite a lot of raspberries in late October and the chickens do love them so why not give them a few as a treat.

It's built in entertainment for them to jump for them and in slow motion, quite spectacular too.

Their new motto is "Will Jump for Raspberries". Not dissimilar to a good friend of mine whose motto is "Will Run for W**e" 🤣

Went to see if there were any Northern Lights tonight. There weren't sadly but the Plough was still beautiful

Definitely my no.1 favourite soup and one that I make every year. Every year I always regret not making more!

It's a great use of the San Marzano Tomatoes, Red Onions and Ohnivec Chillies that we grow. It's also deliciously warming on those colder days that are fast approaching.

08/09/2026

We only use recycled plastic coops for our flock ♻️
We also ONLY sell models of coop that we USE in our UK online store.
www.englishcountrylife.com

That means we can advise you from our own experience which coops will suit you based on your needs. We're not reading from a product manual, we're talking from experience.

If you contact us, you'll talk to either Fiona or Hugh, the chickenkeepers and store owners. There's no call centre, just the people who know and care!

Apple didn't hatch them, but they are hers now! It's amazing how hens just care for chicks that need them. Somehow the chicks sense it too
