π±π¦· IS YOUR CAT HIDING A TOOTHACHE?
Cats are experts at hiding discomfort, which means dental problems can sometimes go unnoticed!
One particularly painful condition in cats is tooth resorption, where the structure of the tooth gradually breaks down.
π Signs to watch out for:
πΎ Bad breath
πΎ Drooling or pawing at the mouth
πΎ Red or inflamed gums
πΎ Dropping food while eating
πΎ Changes in grooming or behaviour
πΎ Preferring softer food
π DID YOU KNOW?
Cats can continue eating normally even when suffering from painful dental disease!
HOW TO BRUSH YOUR CAT'S TEETH
Daily toothbrushing with cat-safe toothpaste is one of the best ways to reduce plaque and support healthy teeth and gums.
The trick is to introduce it gradually, use plenty of positive reinforcement and never force your cat.
If your cat appears to have a painful mouth, arrange a veterinary examination before attempting toothbrushing.
