Do you know we are open throughout the summer holidays? ☀️ Are you looking for therapeutic support for your child over the summer holidays? Whether their usual support is paused during the break, they're unable to access the support they need during term time, or they would benefit from some additional support over the summer, our Occupational Therapy sessions can help maintain progress and work towards meaningful goals. 🐎🍃

At Maverick Therapies, we offer individual Occupational Therapy sessions throughout the summer holidays, tailored to your child's unique needs and interests.

All assessment is embedded within sessions, allowing us to gain a thorough understanding of your child's strengths and needs while providing meaningful therapeutic support from the outset.

📍 Based at our outdoor and horse-assisted therapy site in Goonhavern
🏡 Home and community-based sessions also available
✨ Very limited spaces available ✨

These sessions may be beneficial for children and young people who need support with:

• Sensory processing differences
• Confidence and self-esteem
• Emotional understanding and regulation
• Anxiety and mental health needs
• Developing independence and life skills
• Motor skills and coordination

We have had a lovely few weeks of Occupational Therapy sessions! 🐎 🍃☀️

We've been busy taking part in a variety of activities with both children and adults at Maverick. Some of the activities we've been enjoying recently to support wellbeing, independence, skill development, and meaningful engagement include:

🍃 Quiet time with our horses – gentle time grooming, stroking, or simply being with these lovely horses, perfect for those living with dementia or other cognitive needs.

🍃 Making our own fruity drinks – a perfect activity for hot days to help keep hydrated, as well as being part of our interoception-focused sessions to develop body awareness, recognise body cues, develop life skills, and participate in something fun and meaningful.

🍃 Making huge bubbles with our Hoberman Sphere – supporting breath work, breathing control, mindfulness, oral motor skills, and self-regulation.

🍃 Horse care activities – including stroking, brushing, and spending time with our horses to support the development of life skills, movement, enjoyment, and wellbeing.

🍃 Harvesting, cooking, and eating fresh food from our garden – supporting gross motor skills, dynamic balance, shoulder stability, safety awareness, and the development of life skills around food preparation and eating. It also provides opportunities to explore foods in a natural and safe environment through touch, smell, and taste.

🍃 Planting sunflowers – a great activity to support fine motor skills, sensory exploration, life skill development, and engagement in a meaningful activity.

We love creating meaningful, enjoyable, and therapeutic experiences that support people of all ages to engage, learn, develop skills, and connect with the world around them. 💚🐴🌻

Inspired by In The Cottage Garden’s book Dopamine Gardening, we’ve created our own herbal tea garden within our therapy service 🌿☕

This project shows how occupational therapy can be woven into meaningful, sensory-rich activities that support wellbeing, regulation, and connection. From planting and nurturing the garden to exploring smell, taste, texture, and interoceptive awareness, every part of the process creates opportunities for engagement, routine, and therapeutic growth.

Our herbal tea garden will also help us make calming, natural teas and drinks, not only for ourselves, but for our horses to enjoy too 🐴 🌱

📣 NEW OT GROUP – Expressions of Interest
We’re exploring interest for a Specialist Occupational Therapy group (equine-assisted & nature-based) for young people aged 12–16 🐎✨🍃

This group will be very small and specially designed for those experiencing:
-Anxiety
-Low self-esteem or confidence
-Emotional regulation challenges
-Social anxiety or feelings of isolation

Group details:
🐎 Equine-assisted & nature-based sessions
👥 Max 4–5 young people
🕐 60-minute sessions
📅 Likely Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday day time
📆 Starting after May half term for a half term block
💷 Approx. £50 per session
📝 All clinical notes are included in session cost

Sessions will gently support young people to:
-Build confidence and independence
-Develop emotional regulation strategies
-Connect with others in a safe, calm space
-Engage in meaningful, hands-on activities
-Experience the therapeutic benefits of horses and nature

Delivered by specialist Occupational Therapists in our peaceful outdoor setting in mid Cornwall (Goonhavern area).

We accept funding through:

✅ Self-funding
✅ Direct Payments
✅ EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School)- please note Devon Council only currently
✅ Section 19 provision (by arrangement with the local authority or school)

💚 Occupational Therapy support delivered through outdoor-based and equine-assisted interventions. 🐎🍃 Sessions are designed to support children and young people in a calm, natural environment to:

🌿 Build confidence and independence
🌿 Support emotional regulation and wellbeing
🌿 Develop essential life skills

Suitable for children and young people with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health needs.

📍 Located in mid Cornwall, our outdoor setting provides a unique and supportive space tailored to each individual.

We accept funding through:
✅ EHCP-funded support (for those with OT provision named)
✅ Direct Payments
✅ ASF
✅ Self-funding
✅ EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School)
✅ Section 19 provision (by arrangement with the local authority or school)

All sessions are delivered by our specialist Occupational Therapists.
