Update: Unfortunately I have been poorly, thankfully not with Covid19, but my timing could not have been worse. I ended up in hospital for a week after a serious blockage in my liver. Very grateful to all the staff, doctors and nurses who took care of me, did my op and managed to get me home again right in the midst of this terrible pandemic.

My poor mother who has a lot of issues herself has for the last 4 weeks been slogging night and day to care for all the animals at Care, a friend was able to help out for the first week, but then the lock down forced a whole new set of rules. Although I should not really have been driving, there was no other alternative, so we have muddled through the best we can.

My mother will be returning to her own home this coming week and this has a few worries for me. Currently we have 8 ponies that we rent a large field for about 4 or 5 miles away. I have grazing in a couple of fields right close to my house, but because the ponies are elderly and have issues such as laminitis and cushings, I can not bring them back until I manage to secure some sort of housing for them (some are currently having to be on restricted grazing or box rest) .

I have been in touch with a fantastic company (Shetlands to shires shelters and stables) who would drive over 300 miles and deliver and erect a double field shelter (that I can adapt to ensure those ponies under their own lock down can be housed safely) for the sum of £2200. They would do this due to the welfare of the animals, and obviously having all the ponies within two minutes of my home would reduce the serious risks to my health during my recovery as well as reducing risks I may pose to my disabled son whilst I'm having to travel every day to tend the animals and get fuel etc.

I know so many people are really struggling at this time, and I know the biggest fight of all is with this terrible virus, but if you would consider sponsoring the oldies here at care by donating a little something towards this shelter, we would all be eternally grateful.

We generally fund everything for the care of these animals ourselves, especially having lost our biggest supporter Mary Alice, so any help would go such a long way. I'm not holding out much hope, but I know I can't give up, and for the love of the ponies and Mary Alice's special boy Sparky, I have to try.

With love and thanks from me and all the animals here.
