Meet Hette, a teeny weeny Dachshund cross with a naturally curious spirit. 🐾💛

This little rescue has had a tough start in life and finds the world rather frightening. Her owners are keen to help her feel more confident around people and more comfortable when spending time apart from them.

For now, her curiosity isn’t quite enough to overcome her worries, and she only feels safe accepting physical contact from her owners. That’s our starting point—giving her space, choice and time, without any pressure to interact.

Together, we’ll work on gentle, achievable steps to help Hette feel safer. Building trust takes time, and we’ll move at her pace, celebrating every small step along the way. ❤️

Sunny spent today with Patrick doing what spaniels are bred to do—hunting in the beating line in the beautiful Dorset countryside. 🌿🐾

Patrick had a lovely day with some very friendly and pleasant country folk.

Having been away from this environment since February, she was rather enthusiastic this morning! After lunch, she settled well and became a real asset to the team.

Next week, Rosie will have a brief introduction from a distance, simply watching and becoming quietly familiar with the sights and sounds. She’s still young, so there’s no rush for her to join in. We’ll take things at her pace, probably staying for just half an hour, to build confidence without overwhelming her.

And here’s Sunny this evening—completely worn out and enjoying a well-earned snooze. A happy little spaniel and a happy Patrick! 💤❤️

Yesterday I worked with Jade and her 6-month old lab, Floki. We worked on connection, jumping up, sniff time, loose lead walking and dummy retrieving. His emergency stop has been taught to him very well by Jade. He’s a young dog and Jade is taking things very slowly to allow him to understand each step before moving on. It’s always a real pleasure to work with owners like this who aren’t in a hurry (because it never works….)

I thought this would amuse you. Siri goes to our local junior school with Patrick as the school’s “reading dog”. In other words the kids read to her and it has a remarkable effect on some of the less confident children. However she’s also a very naughty dog and an opportunist. Siri likes apples in their entirety as one of the teachers discovered to their horror today at the school. She had left her bag on the floor and Siri sneaked up to it, stuck her nose in the bag and stole the lunchtime apple and gobbled it up before anyone could stop her. How could you be cross? They weren’t and just highly amused but a lesson learnt! 🤣 🍎 🐕
