☀️Heatwave Alert: Keep Your Dog Cool & Safe! 🐾💦

With temperatures soaring again over the next couple of weeks, it’s important to protect our four-legged friends from the dangers of heatstroke. Here are a few simple ways to help keep your dog cool:

✅ Walk early or late – Avoid walking your dog during the hottest part of the day. Stick to early mornings or late evenings when it's cooler.

✅ Paws on the ground? Check first! – Tarmac and pavements can burn sensitive paws. Test with the back of your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.

✅ Keep them hydrated – Always have fresh water available. Add ice cubes to their bowl or give them frozen treats for extra cooling.

✅ Create shady spots – Indoors or outside, make sure your dog has access to a cool, shaded area to rest.

✅ Never leave them in a car – Not even for a minute. Even with the windows open, cars can become deadly ovens in minutes.

✅ Remember, dogs can’t sweat like we do. If your dog is panting heavily, drooling, or seems drowsy or unsteady, get them to a cool spot, offer water, and call your vet immediately.

Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 🐕☀️💛

Have thought about doing this if it helps save a dogs life 🤔

This is one of those posts we never like having to make... but we really need your help 💔

Our blood stocks are currently critically low, and we're concerned about the number of appointments booked over the coming weeks 😓

Summer is always a difficult time, with holidays and busy schedules meaning fewer dogs come forward to donate. Unfortunately, emergencies and illnesses don't stop for summer 🚨

Right now, we urgently need more lifesavers to come forward 🩸

If you've ever thought about registering your dog to become a blood donor... this is your sign. We need amazing people who can spare just an hour of their day to help save lives ❤️

To be a lifesaver, your dog must be:
🎂 between 1 and 8 years old
⚖️ weigh over 25kg
🐶 fit, healthy, and confident
Register at www.petbloodbankuk.org/welcome

Please consider booking an appointment at a donation session near you soon. We really need you and your wonderful dog to come along and make a lifesaving difference 🙏

If you're already booked in, please keep your appointment if at all possible. We know the warm weather can be a concern, but we have measures in place to keep donor dogs cool, comfortable, and safe throughout their visit!

Please share this post with anyone you know who might be able to help. Thank you so much ❤️
