The words said by a registrar at a friends wedding wished I heard it sooner !

What I Learned about Love, I Learned from my Dog by Anon

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Thrive on affection and enjoy back rubs and pats on your neck.

When you leave your yard, make it an adventure.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

No matter how often you’re scolded, don’t pout – run right back and make friends.

On cold nights, curl up together in front of a crackling fire.

When you’re excited, speak up.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.

Always give one another a friendly greeting.

If it’s not wet and sloppy, it’s not a real kiss.

And most importantly, Love each other unconditionally.

Worth knowing

Bee and wasp stings can happen to our cats and dogs 🐝

Bees often leave a sting behind in the skin, while wasps can sting multiple times.

If your pet shows signs of swelling or an allergic reaction, contact your vet straight away ⚠️

For more advice on insect bites and stings, visit our Pet Health Hub: https://pdsa.me/gJ5J

[Visual description: Infographic titled 'what to do if your pet is stung by a wasp/bee'. Signs and symptoms: swelling, licking or biting the sting, whining and crying, limping or holding up a paw, drooling, and hives. If your pet is having an allergic reaction, they could have more severe symptoms. If this is the case, get them to your vet as soon as possible. If your pet is showing signs of swelling around the mouth or throat area, see your vet immediately. Never squeeze a sting, as this can make things worse. If your pet's reaction is mild, call your vet for advice and closely monitor them for signs of an allergic reaction.]

Planning to take your pet to the EU? 🐾 Make sure you’re aware of the EU changes to pet travel rules from Great Britain:

🐕 EU pet passports can now only be issued to owners who live in the EU. If you're based in Great Britain, you may need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) instead when travelling to the EU - even if you already have an EU pet passport.
🌍You should check the specific entry requirements of the country you’re visiting before travel.
📄You'll need a new AHC for every trip from Great Britain to the EU. Once you arrive, your AHC is now valid for onward travel and re-entry to Great Britain for up to six months.
🐈If someone else is taking your pet into the EU, they'll need written authorisation from you as the owner, and your pet must travel within 5 days of your movement.
🚗 Non-commercial travel into the EU is now limited to five pets per vehicle, replacing the previous limit of five per person.

As cats spend more time outdoors this spring, it’s a good reminder to be cautious with collars and always choose quick-release styles ⚠️

Crystal the cat went missing and returned home injured.

Her owner, Kim, said: “I was so pleased she was home, but when I had a closer look, I could see she was wearing a collar, which was stuck around her neck and under her front leg. I was so worried that she was in pain.”

Our vet team carefully removed the collar and found a large, infected wound under Crystal’s leg. With antibiotics, pain relief, and ongoing care, Crystal soon recovered.

Unlike dogs, cats don’t need to wear collars. If your cat does wear one, always choose a quick-release collar, so it can fall off if it gets caught on something 🐈

I've managed to get myself a few cheeky days away, leaving the lovely Hannah in charge. Luckily for me Polo is there to keep an eye on her, and demonstrate our wide range of cat scrathers.
