🐾 Something new from me… meet FURWARD! 🌿

If you have a small dog in Tamworth, this one’s for you! 🐶

After 13+ years of working with dogs, I’ve decided to create something a little different: Furward: Small Dogs, Big Adventures.

Furward is my new small-dog group walking service, created specifically for those little dogs who deserve just as much adventure as their bigger friends!

I’ll be offering carefully matched group walks, starting with pairs of compatible dogs and growing the groups gradually as Furward develops.

And because I know how important it is to trust the person looking after your dog, I’ll be the one taking them out. My experience as a qualified dog behaviourist and trainer means your dog isn’t just another dog on the walk, I’ll get to know them, their personality and what makes them comfortable and happy.

🌿 Small dogs only
🐾 Carefully matched companions
🐶 Fun & enriching outdoor walks
📍 Tamworth
🗓️ Places available now Mon to Fri

This is something I’m really excited about, and I can’t wait to get Furward moving!

So, if you have a little four-legged adventurer, or know someone who does, I’d love for you to give the new page a follow. ❤️

Ruby 🐾

Oh Ruby… this beautiful Goldie x Hound girl absolutely melts my heart. 🥹❤️ She is such a lovely girl!

Saturday we were working on proofing Ruby’s recall. We built the foundations in our last session, so this time the focus was taking that recall out into the real world and adding distractions.

There weren’t many dogs around yesterday, but honestly, that worked out perfectly because we still had plenty to work with; people, birds and squirrels! 🐦🐿️ All things Ruby would very much like to go and say hello to. 😂

And I won’t lie… Ruby absolutely smashed it! 👏

There was one lovely moment where we saw another dog and you could almost see Ruby weighing up her options:

“Do I run over and say hello… or do I come back to my humans?” 🤔

Her ears twitched when we called her, she made the decision to disengage from the dog and came racing back to us. ❤️

That deserved a jackpot reward, and she got one!

Moments like that are exactly what proofing recall is about, giving our dogs the skills to make good choices even when something exciting is happening around them.

We also spent some time neatening up Ruby’s lead walking, and both Ruby and her owner are really starting to get the hang of it.

So proud of how well this girl is doing! Keep smashing it, Ruby! 🐾❤️

Does your dog suddenly forget their name exists when there are distractions around? 😂

It’s something we can work on, building that recall gradually so coming back to you becomes the best choice they can make. ❤️

If recall is something you’re struggling with, feel free to drop me a message and we can chat about how I can help.

Brenda & Audie 🐾

Saturday I had my final session with Brenda and Audie, two lovely Border Terriers, at the castle grounds.

Both can be reactive around other dogs, but what makes these two particularly interesting is that when walked separately, they don’t react to dogs. Together, however, they can be quite a handful! 😅

Brenda is a nervous girl, so part of our work was focused on building her confidence and helping her learn that she can observe other dogs without anything bad happening.

Audie, on the other hand, becomes very aroused by dogs, particularly when they’re moving. So our focus was on teaching him that he doesn’t have to fixate; choosing to disengage from the other dog and return his attention to his handler is something that gets rewarded. 🥰

We still have work to do, but yesterday was a really positive session. We were able to expose them to lots of different dogs and work through a variety of situations while keeping the focus on helping them make better choices.

It’s been lovely seeing their progress, and I’m excited to see how they continue to develop with their owners. ❤️

Well done Brenda & Audie! 🐶🐾

🐾 NEW! FOUNDATION DOG TRAINING CLASS 🐾
𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀+

Are you looking for more than just sit, down and stay?

I’ve been working on something new at Train With Chelsie; a practical, real-world Foundation Dog Training Class designed to teach the skills behind good behaviour.

Over 4 weeks, we’ll be working on:

▪️Communication, engagement & boundaries
▪️Impulse control & calmness
▪️Loose lead walking & real-world control
▪️Recall and emergency U-turns
▪️Neutrality & polite behaviour around dogs
▪️Appropriate human greetings
▪️Working around real-life distractions
▪️Settling and learning to switch off

This isn’t about creating a dog that can perform a list of commands in a training environment.

It’s about helping you understand how to communicate with your dog, build self-control and develop skills that you can actually use in everyday life.

📅 Starting Saturday 5th September
⏰ 9:00am
🐕 4 consecutive Saturdays
💷 £79 for the full course
🐾 Maximum 6 dogs

You’ll also receive your own training clicker to keep, which we’ll introduce during the first session and use throughout the course.

And this is just the beginning…

Foundation → Progression → Reliability

A structured training pathway designed to help you continue developing your dog’s skills as they become more reliable.

⚠️ Spaces are limited to just 6 dogs and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

If you’d like to join the first Foundation Class, send me a message to book your place! 🐾

Next up in my catch-up of the lovely dogs I’ve been working with is Reggie! 🐾

This handsome boy is a 9-month-old Rottie cross, and while he is an absolute sweetheart, he definitely needs to learn a few boundaries, because this boy likes to get very up close and personal with your face! 😂

Reggie is also a little nervous at times and is always on the go, finding it difficult to properly switch off and settle when his owners are at home.

So, during our session, we introduced Place training and looked at the benefits of teaching Reggie how to settle and relax rather than constantly looking for something to do.

We also worked on some household boundaries, including the sofa, and helped him come off “neighbourhood watch duty” at the window! 👀😂

Sometimes dogs can spend so much time monitoring what’s happening outside that they never really switch off, so teaching Reggie that he doesn’t need to patrol the house was an important part of helping him learn to relax.

We also discussed mental enrichment and increasing his morning exercise, giving him more opportunities to use his brain and burn off some of that youthful energy so he can be more settled throughout the day.

And Reggie absolutely smashed it! ⭐

He took to everything we introduced like a star, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how he progresses and getting back to work with him at our next session. 🐶💚

Sorry I’ve been quiet on here lately, but I’ve been unwell ❤️‍🩹

I’m finally getting back into the swing of things, so I thought I’d start catching you up on some of the lovely dogs I’ve been working with recently!

First up is Tilly, an adorable 8-month-old Cockapoo. 🐶

Tilly was absolutely lovely, but like many young dogs, she was very excited and quite jumpy!

We started by putting some clear boundaries in place and working on techniques her owners could use to manage and reduce the jumping up, particularly when Tilly gets excited around them.

We also looked at how to encourage and reinforce calmer behaviours, as well as tackling her habit of begging.

Then we moved into the kitchen, where Tilly loves to jump up at the counters while her owners are trying to cook! 🍳🐕

We worked on creating some clear boundaries around the kitchen and teaching Tilly what she should be doing instead.

Finally, we looked at her behaviour out on walks, particularly her tendency to jump up at people she meets. We discussed how to manage these situations and, most importantly, how to help Tilly learn that she doesn’t need to launch herself at everyone she sees! 😂

Tilly is such a sweet girl, and with some consistency and clear guidance from her owners, there’s lots of potential for her to become a much calmer and more polite young dog. 💚 Looking forward to our next session.

More doggy catch-ups coming soon! 🐾🐶
