Dogfest 2026 🐶

Me and Maple had a fantastic day at Dogfest today. Amongst all the fun, we made sure to take some time out to cool down in the shade and practice her ‘settle’ ~

It’s the real life moments like these where training is beyond valuable!

Maple demonstrates exactly what we want our settle to look like around other dogs. No pulling. No barking. Just a chilled out dog focused on her owner enjoying the breeze.

‘Settle’ doesn’t come naturally to lots of dogs and that’s ok, we can help.

Our Puppy Classes teach this skill from the get go so those afternoon teas or sunny pub garden visits are enjoyable for both of you.

Brilliant session working with Buddy the Cockapoo today 🐶

We worked on building confidence and improving communication between him and his owner. It’s always amazing to see the amount of progress that can be made in one session!

Well done Buddy and owner! 👏🏼☺️

Heatwave tips for all pets 🌡️

High temperatures can be dangerous for dogs, cats and small pets but you can do some simple things to keep them cool, comfortable and ultimately- safe in the dangerously high temperatures we are experiencing this week.

🚫 AVOID:
- Leaving your pet in a car, conservatory or closed space.
- Walking/letting out your pet during the hottest day. If you are unsure, do the pavement test (hold your hand on the surface for 5 seconds) if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet.

✅ DO:
- Provide shade from the direct sun, provide fresh, clean water regularly.
- Provide cooling matts, or nibble friendly alternatives like tiles for small pets.
- Create a 'cool room' by using fans (kept safely out of reach), closing curtains, and ensuring there is good ventilation. For small pets, place frozen water bottles near housing so they can lean against them.

Please share with others to keep pets safe this week.
